Just bought a sausage from a food truck. The guy's son sells food at BMO and he is told what the exoected attendance is so he can plan his food supplies and he was told that there are only 13,00 tickets sold for tonight. That is not good news....but you can also blame the schedulaers with these weeknight games and having a game when roads are closed for the Indy. On top of that, there is a concert at the Amphitheater. Does anyone in this city government know how to stagger events?
I think they will have a decent walk up tonight. but no more week day games. We need all Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I think we will end up around 16 to 18k tonight which will still be okay in bmo and fun.
I hope he's wrong. I just checked the virtual availability on the TM site. There are no where near half the stadium seats available (I would say maybe 1/3), and they are scattered all over the stadium, so it's not as if they are not releasing certain sections. I believe they will get close to, if not over 20k
It's us vs the rest of the country
East side of the stadium looks pretty rough though.
TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
Given that the Indy race is this weekend, I believe the schedulers had no choice but to put this game on Wednesday, as more of the CNE grounds would not be available over the remaining days this week.
It would have made sense to have the Argonauts bye week this week instead of next, but I'm guessing that the Stampeders wanted this week off due to the Calgary Stampede running.
thats what TFC gets for its wednesday games 10-15k.
schedule will be better next year

The only thing I've heard is that the present contract may be expiring after next year (2017). I suppose it could be possible to end after this year if the city and race promoter were to mutually agree they no longer wanted to continue with it.
Though it doesn't seem to be mentioned much in the media, its existence in recent years has apparently relied on government handouts. I have trouble thinking of any argument defending that situation. It's not as though it has any kind of real cultural or social significance. It now literally gets in the way of other events that attract more people and presumably bring in parking revenue instead of requiring handouts. If you're wondering, a generous estimate of the attendance last year was 7.5 to 10 thousand. Any wish or hope that it could return to the former popularity it had in the 1980s and 90s (when there would be around 70,000) seems to have disappeared. Mosport, out in the middle of nowhere in farm country, gets far more people at its major race weekends. And it has a billionaire owner, Carlo Fidani, and I assume he risks his money running the events instead of needing government handouts.
