Here are the numbers for the season ticket analysis, then i added the seats for TFC layout. I have 26,635 including luxury suites. someone please check my math. TFC layout 27,855.

LMOL, TFC must add 3000 ghost fans onto all their games. i know they have "announced" 30k a few times.

Does that mean we shouldn't believe the Argo attendance figures either?
It's just over 30k for soccer and 25k for CFL football
Most teams use tickets distributed (sold / given away) not people in seats for their attendance figures.

I've been to a few TFC games that were announced as sellouts and had thousands of empty seats.

Capacity for the Argonauts has been announced as anywhere from 25,000+ to 27,000+.

There have been some media reports out of Vancouver recently about how both the Lions and Whitecaps have overstated attendance over the years with the Whitecaps doing it even more than the Lions. You probably have to take attendance figures in every sport in every city with a grain of salt these days.

it's a marathon not a sprint - whoever already said that is bang on. If it's as fun as the first game and a better game than that, it'll keep the momentum going from that first game. I'm really looking forward to it. Seeing the Argos in first after 4 weeks would be ideal.

20k should be the goal for another mid week game.
But no other competition on TV, so who knows?

What would have been nice is some local coverage of the Argos on this past road trip. Does anyone in the city know (other than those on this site) that the team has won 2 in a row and are coming back home? Is TSN 1050s coverage of the team only going to come on game day? They have to do more. Some daily type of coverage and a weekly show separate from game day. That should be standard anyhow. It is going to be 40 degrees out this week and the Leafs will receive daily coverage and the Argos won't. This does not make any sense.

anything under 25k would be a disappointment for a new stadium in a city the size of Toronto

It makes perfect sense, more people care about the Leafs.. it's probably 1000 to 1.

It's not up to the media to promote the Argos, it's up to the Argos to promote the Argos. Having said that I've seen a lot of ads on TSN for the game on Wednesday and they mentioned winning both the games in the west.

The coverage will grow as the fan base grows, the news is simply reporting what the viewers want.

based on ticketmaster, its going to be 19k. midweek games are hard sell with GTA traffic.

Do they not have the weekly Argos show on TSN 1050 anymore?

I understand more people follow the Leafs. But limiting coverage to game day only how are you ever going to create interest? The other teams are covered daily and keeps them top of mind. After an outstanding opening night, with 800,000 TV viewers and now 2 road wins, the team should be getting some coverage, especially by the media giant that owns them. Rogers are not shy of covering the Blue Jays, even when they were an average team at best. The media do not owe the Argos any favours, but they are owed journalistic integrity.
    GO ARGOS!!!

We can hope for better, but 20K is a nice round number that's easy for people to remember.

I don't think 1 game is going to be enough to completely change how the media covers it. I think when it comes to the Argos they will avoid giving them extra coverage simply because they do own them. I think that will actually work against the Argos.

Dont forget TSN does not stand for Toronto Sports Network

And they ARE getting coverage. I'm in Kingston and have heard more Argo commercials and coverage this year then any other year.

They didn't even have 25k at the home opener against Hamilton so that's just not realistic.

I was hoping and expecting the Home Opener to sell out; I hope and expect any time we face off against the Ticats to sell out BMO (or at least 90%). The Exhibition games (I believe there's two) I hope and expect to sell well (24-25k) . Any of the other games however I was hoping for around 20k. A lot of damage has been done in this market, and a lot of work and time has to go into it. Anyone who was expecting BMO to cure all in year one either doesn't know/understand this market or is trolling IMO.

A new stadium automatically creates several thousand fans?
