SM may be the best HC in all of football with a 43 - 47 record (47%). And Barker is a stellar GM with a 95 -120 (44%). Through in that, by the end of 2016, they couldn't field a competitive team on offense, defense or special teams.

Ray damning with faint praise for SM?

This may be why Milanovich said goodbye to his coaches. He must've saw this thread.

Had Milanovich not said goodbye to his coaches after the season...well, that would have been just plain rude!

OK I am a newbie and I have struggled with the negativity of the fan base. I get it, it was not a great season, and I assume all these posters are x-players etc. with a good knowledge of the game.
Please tell me where to see the ST rankings, there are many places to see O & D, I am just not seeing where the ST was that bad, as a matter of fact I thought they were better than I have read on this site. I have seen the criticism of all the Oline players especially CVZ but then I see he is one of the best in the East.
    Confused!!

Well, from what I saw the Argos were a distant last in return average. Very rare forna return go for any distance. Gave up a few TD's on returns, that one at home against Saskatchewan where the cover team allowed the returner to run a straight line to endzone still horrified me.

On the plus side they did manage to block a few punts....and LH was perhaps the best all purpose kicker in the league.

Not sure how CVZ garnered an all star award. But then again TJ Heath was a Western All Star despite having most of his interceptions while wearing an Argo uniform.

So is there an overall ranking somewhere for ST. I most certainly agree with the return yards comment but would like to know where the overall comparison is against other teams.

I wonder if Derek Taylor, the CFL stats guy from TSN would have in depth statistics?

There's no overall ranking that I'm aware of. I suppose someone could rank each team in all of the different ST categories: punt returns for and against, KO returns for and against, FGs tried/made, converts tried/made, and then add up all rankings, with the lowest number being considered the top ST team in the league. But don't think anyone has ever done that.

I'd like to see which teams allowed the biggest returns against, along with TD's, etc. We need DT on the case.

Again, it was a REALLY BAD YEAR. I have not disputed that. I don't believe in change for the sake of change. He's a good coach.

Fair comment Angelo, I personally think a change is needed but hope they really do their homework in regards to any Coach or GM replacements.
Critical they get this one right.

I took that tweet to mean that Milanovich said goodbye to the office staff - many of whom have likely been there since he arrived in 2012.

The media who vote on these things love the interceptions stat. A guy can have 10 interceptions in a season and be beaten 20 times for TDs and he will still make all-star based on the INT stat alone. That explains why Geoff Tisdale made all-star at least a time or two during his career.
