TFC fan stoops lower then low Part Deux

The only reason I am posting this is because this story seems to be flying under the radar and the next time the TFC people get up to their shenanigans there's a little ammo to shut them up. The misogynists are at it again.

Montreal Impact fans outraged over 'sexist' Toronto FC poster
Toronto soccer club responds on Twitter, says it will look into the matter
Sarah Leavitt, CBC News Aug 28, 2016

A giant poster brought into a Toronto FC game against the Montreal Impact Saturday night has left fans of both teams crying foul.

The poster depicted a man in the red colours of Toronto FC, with a woman wearing underwear in Montreal Impact blue kneeling in front of him, suggesting a sexual act. In bold letters, it had a phrase meaning "Montreal sucks."

"A big banner of a woman on her knees implying fellatio and the phrase 'Montreal you suck' is a disgrace," the Twitter user wrote, linking to a photo of the poster.

The Toronto club apologized to Twitter users who expressed their disapproval, saying the poster was unacceptable.

"Upsetting to say the least," the club wrote to one soccer fan.

"We will look into this. This is not OK."

    Official complaint coming

At least one Impact fan says she will file an official complaint with Major League Soccer.

Elizabeth Cotignola wasn't at the game but saw the poster being shared on Twitter.

"I perceived it not even as an Impact fan seeing it as a slight towards Impact fans but as a woman seeing it as sexist, misogynic imagery," she told CBC. "It made my blood boil."

Cotignola posted to Twitter that she would file a complaint and says she's received a lot of positive support.

"The reason I'd like this documented and formalized is because this isn't an issue that's specifically tied to this one incident, in this one fan base, in this one game," she said.

"It's been a problem across a lot of venues at Major League Soccer and other sporting venues. I think we're now really cognizant, in 2016, that sports is a fairly toxic domain for women."

Cotignola says the league has to take a firm stance on the issue of sexism.

CBC News has asked for comment from Toronto FC, the Montreal Impact and Major League Soccer, but has not yet heard back.

I get that that the actions of these morons only represent a small amount of the TFC paying customer, but MLSE really needs to put an end to this stuff. These are the same people that have that idiotic thread going on RPB site, the ones that complained about Argos coming to BMO. Funny thing is, that I have met a lot of TFC fans, and they had no issue with Argos at BMO. This has become very embarrassing, and as I said, MLSE needs to do something to stop these people from going to their games. In the long run, they will be better off for it.

Probably the latter. I read a lot of Impact fans voice their dislike of the Inebriati.

Pretty sure it was Inebriati, but the attitude seems the same.

How long into the game was this guy allowed to hold up that sign?
(I don't mean continuously, but on and off.)
And aren't all banners/signs checked by stadium staff before being allowed in?
I'm not impressed that this guy got in with that sign.

And aren't these supporter groups the same ones who set off smoke bombs in Montreal during the playoffs last year?
I see these cavemen are bringing over the worst of the European soccer hooligan traditions.

Send them back to their home countries please. They don't represent Canadian values.
Agreed with everything up until here. Let's try to leave this type of stuff out of the debate because it does nothing to paint CFL fans in a positive light. We frankly don't know where these people holding the signs were from and it really shouldn't matter.

    Fair enough.
I have edited it out of my post.

As explanation... I don't usually write hateful stuff like that, but some of the more malicious comments against Canadian football and by extension, Canadian culture in general, that I had read at RPB when the Argos @ BMO debate was at its hottest gave me insight into how some of these morons think.
    I was responding in kind.

    i'll leave this here.

No excuses on this video... young, local white males (referring to the post about hooligans from abroad) deciding they have the right to do whatever they please. Guy got fired I believe.

Not only rehired, full backpay for almost a year. While he may be an obnoxious, druken asshole, losing his job goes against his companies policy, union agreement and also civil rights. To protect all workers in Ontario, it was imperative that a just and correct resolution was found.

Well said Angelo, the vast majority of TFC fans are regular people who simply enjoy the sport of soccer in particular TFC.
Unfortunately all it takes are the actions of a few morally bankrupt imbeciles to ruin things for everyone, damn shame actually.
