Saskatchewan has lost DL Tim Williams to a torn ACL. That's the fifth one this TC. They have already lost: DB Nelson Lokombo, RB Jonathan Femi-Cole, LB Larry Dean and former Argo Freddie Bishop. What's going on? I've never heard of so many ACL injuries on one team so quickly.
Isaac Harker, in his third year with the team, won the Riders backup QB behind former Argo Cody Farjado, while 2016 NFL first round draft pick Paxton Lynch will be the third string QB.

Former Canadian Argo FB Alexandre Dupuis has signed with the Riders. He spend 2014-2016 with the Argos, followed by three years with Edmonton, before signing with the Als in 2020, playing 76 games without ever carrying the ball once, but catching passes for 275 yards and being known as a strong blocker.
The Riders have signed American WR Rasheed Davis.
https://www.riderville.com/2021/09/1...rashard-davis/The 25-year-old was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent the majority of the season on the practice roster and received an NFL championship ring after the Eagles defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Davis went on to spend time with the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. He suited up for one regular season game for the Titans and made one reception for 16 yards and returned two punts. In the playoffs, Davis caught two fair catch punts in the AFC Wild Card game against the Patriots in 2020.
Collegiately, Davis played four seasons (2013-2016) at James Madison University, suiting up in 50 games, recording 1,549 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 203 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Noted for his return abilities, he fielded 21 career punts for 489 yards and earned four touchdowns in a single season — setting a JMU and CAA single-season record — while adding 19 kick returns for 363 yards. In his senior year, the Virginia native also threw one 37-yard pass for a touchdown. Davis was well-awarded for his strong 2016 season including being named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Year, first-team All-CAA punt returner and ECAC first-team all-star, STATS FCS first-team All-American, Associated Press FCS second-team All-American, Walter Camp Football Foundation FCS All-American and HERO Sports FCS first-team All-American.
Canadian WR Kian Schaffer-Baker, who played in college for Guelph, is quickly establishing himself as a key player in the Rider offence in his first CFL season with 73 yards against the #1 CFL Bomber defence and 99 yards against the Argos and a TD against the Argos.
Cody Fajardo didn't seem to impressed with his receiving coprs after the Calgary game as he was talking about 50/50 balls and his teams inability to win them. In the case of Brayden Lenius, he had problems bringing in 100/0 balls last game. Not his best effort.
Well, no excuses now. Duke Williams was the best in the league at it, and he's now a Rider.
Duke Williams loves Jason Maas and that connection was key to him signing in Saskatchewan.

The two were together in Edmonton when Williams @YFBurnna_CMH earned a CFL all-star nod in 2018. https://t.co/OaF6ap64sD#Saskatchewan #Riders #Edmonton #CFL #NFL pic.twitter.com/4FEJNMr6my

Not sure if I trust 3DN but Duke Williams is the second highest paid receive on team after Shaq Evans, who is the third highest paid receiver behind Derel Walker and Lemar Durant? Durant is the highest paid two ever in the league? I dunno why but I find those three to be surprising.
Argos Season Ticket Holder 2016-2021.
Fajardo needs to look in the mirror at his own asinine play lately instead of questioning his receivers - lots of inaccurate and dumb throws from a guy who i thought was progressing towards becoming a CFL all-star QB (same deal for Vernon Adams)
Duke could be a great addition for the Riders; that's if he can regain his previous CFL form and not suffer from NFL hang-over (or whatever the term is that Ravi uses)
Riders might be in trouble. They are 5-4 now, and have only one home game left as their home schedule was front loaded because the pandemic was "over" in June in their province.

I don't think the Lions scare anybody. They haven't beaten any of the top teams and have had an easy schedule to this point, yet are still only 4-4 and finish with a tough schedule down the road (Bombers, Stamps twice, Argos, Cats and finish with Elks. I don't see the Lions winning more than 2 of their last 6 games. Riders also won the season series, so they have that on the Lions as well. Lions record is so inflated IMO. They beat the RedBlacks twice, and Stamps and Als when they were both struggling.
I see West finishing this way:
Bombers
Stamps
Riders
Lions
Elks

I still think the Riders can put it together to challenge the Bummers to take the West and get to the GC.
But they have been stagnant or regressing, and IMO a lot of it is poor coaching - tolerating lots of dumb penalties, and Maas is as predictable / same-old as an OC as it gets; their O-line is weak and needs an upgrade or two (lots of changes & juggling); and Powell is ok as a RB but they need a bigger more powerful back to supplement him IMO and then go with plenty of ground game - to help take pressure off Fajardo; maybe adding Duke Williams + Shaq Evans returning will really pump up their passing attack, but they have some good young Canadian receivers and aren't afraid to play them (3 starting lately).
Their D has lots of talent & experience (leading the league in sacks i believe); and their kicking game is outstanding (huge advantage over the Bombers gong show place kicking).
The Bummers look like the undisputed best team in the league now: Collaros has been excellent and their D is outstanding (credit to Richie Hall - rolling with a bunch of young DBs and has them playing great); I just don't think they are as good as some are thinking (and the Argos pounded them with they put together a good game).
Meanwhile, over at Riderfan land, they are in a complete panic and melt-down over their homer team losing 2 in a row to the hated Stumps. ;o)

I felt a little nauseous watching the Cody Fajardo tribute show yesterday led by Glen Suitor.

Riders get Shaq Evans back and add Duke Williams, so their offence could look a lot stronger this week.
Duke Williams had his best game since his return to action from the NFL in late October last week, gaining 146 yards on 8 receptions. He is starting to look like the 2018 Duke when he gained 1,579 yards.
GM Jeremy O'Day says the Riders plan to have no unvaccinated players in 2022.
