Both years in which the team was competitive, winning the Grey Cup with an 11-6-1 record in '04 and finishing first with an 11-7 record in '05. So not exactly 20 years ago. I think inflation for sports tickets has been ridiculously higher than the rate of inflation and it's definitely affected attendance for the Argos and the entire CFL for that matter. I think no CFL game should see tickets more than $60 unless they're field level tables or those Cpt Kirk chairs at field level which are meant to be premium.

$20 ticket minimum is not bad, but the incentive to buy seasons is not there with the .5% discount. Season ticket holders should have a minimum of 15% or 20% of single game prices, if not even more, as an incentive to get seasons. I wouldn't count the pre-season game and a non-guaranteed playoff game as a perk for season ticket holders. The playoff game is not guaranteed, and the pre-season game is quite frankly a glorified scrimmage which sees teams dress 70 guys. It's not exactly pro football played at a high level with coaches using mainly vanilla packages used to assess individual skills instead of trying to win the game.

I have a pair of season tickets at a $199 per seat and I'd bet that's one of their most popular season tickets because of the price. It's not full, because let's face it, fans move around when they see a half empty stadium, and to the credit of the Argonaut game day staff, they don't make a big deal of it as the a-holes at the dome used to. Don't you notice that the optics on the East Side look better in the 2nd half when those stands look more fuller. If there were 22,000 SSH, then they'd stay at their seats, but there isn't so fans can afford to walk and look at the game from different angles. I've only been to the 100 level on the east side during the Winnipeg game, because that crowd looked pretty bad, and I wanted to improve the optics for TV. Most times I have moved around the 200 level. Those 200 level east side seats even at the 55 yd line are priced way to high. Yes, you do see the whole field, but you are still quite a ways up.

I've got stubs going back to 1980. I'll have to dig them up and can't promise it will be soon, but eventually I'll scan a bunch of them and post the pix.

^ That's awesome guys. My earliest ones are from the mid 90's.

I will say that this year's Season Tickets are quite nice.

I loved the tickets of the 70's and 80's (first game I attended was 1978). I use to keep them all, but one day decided it was dumb to do so and threw them all away. Now that was DUMB.

A bit of a bonus. 1958 Ottawa vs Hamilton played in Philadelphia. Not exactly sure why?

    This is really intriguing!
On a Sunday during the NFL season (I believe?)?
Obviously the Eagles were playing elsewhere.
If I get time, I'll try and investigate this one.

Edit: NFL played only 12 games in the regular season in 1958. The Eagles didn't play their first game until September 28, so this CFL game was played before the NFL season started.

Edit 2: CFL played 14 games in the regular season in 1958. This was the first year of the CFL. The regular season in the east consisted of the Tiger-Cats, Argonauts, Alouettes, and Rough Riders playing each other only. Tiger-Cats played Argonauts 4 times, Alouettes and Rough Riders 5 times each.

The Ottawa Citizen's Eddie McCabe wrote a book about Russ Jackson many, many years ago. I first read it in the 1980s but no longer have the book. Anyway, McCabe does talk about this game in Philly but I cannot recall the reason he provided for the game being played there. I think that the league might have just been testing out the US market. I do know that it drew a crowd of 15k.

I've got some 70s and on Argos vs. Ottawa Rough Rider ticket stubs from games at Lansdowne (have stubs from all 8 CFL teams, plus the Sacramento - 1st ever game vs. a US based team, that played there, in a frame along with a few GC ticket stubs); my fave stub is I think from the 81 GC (underdog Ottawa allmost upset the Esks dynasty) - ticket has a flag of Canada design with Canadian Pro Football Championship as the main print headline.

Will try to scan and post some of these later. (I think my ticket stub collection of all kinds or rock/blues concerts - going back to the 70s as well - is more impressive than my various sports (hockey, baseball, boxing along with football) stubs collection. Been a collector of such memorabilia for some time, but some people have pretty amazing & extensive collections.

Ravi - I have that book on Jackson somewhere still - Profile of a Pro I believe it was called - I'll try to dig it out and find out that info about the game in the States.
