Did cocaine end the hair band era and did heroin end the grunge band era?

Nirvana ended the hair band era.
Whatever Kurt Cobain's demons were ended the grunge band era.

Cobain died in early 1994. I would venture to say that grunge was still strong into late 1996.

The hair bands strangely hung around for a bit into 92 and even early 93. "Let's Get Rocked" by Def Lepard hit No. 15 here in the US in summer of 92 I think.
Now you didn't see any crap hair band song make the top 40 like 87-89, but there were a few that still made some noise in 91 and 92.
