Semi-Eastern Final: Edmonton Eskimos @ Ottawa redblacks

The unthinkable may occur as the crossover team has a legitimate shot at advancing to the Grey Cup championship. As much as I don't want this scenario occurring, I just cannot bring myself to cheer for a professional sports franchise located in Ottawa.

I really do think Ottawa is better than their record says. Edmonton will be in tough. Go RB's.

Well, I can. Ottawa is the new class franchise of the league and Edmonton has gone from that to scum. I wish the RBs could put the lumberjacks directly behind the Eskimo bench and wail away on the chainsaws.

I want to see an East vs. West Grey Cup, but I'd rather not hear about Hank's legacy again this year.

On what do you base your assessment of the Eskimos as scum?
    First I've heard of it.

I agree with it. Ed Hervey is an A-hole. The entire way from him, to Maas to Reilly the way the mic'd up thing was handled is 100% low class.

I think Cal-Edm would be the best game and the best storyline. Selfishly I would like Ott to win on Sunday because it might give me some options to sell my tickets if I want to do that. Also as an Argo fan I would love Henry to win the grey cup because it would totally mess with ott's plan to hand the starting qb job to Harris next year.

That's a good one. But even if he doesn't win the Grey Cup I am sure he will want one more crack at it with the Grey Cup game in Ottawa.
I think he will be back for one more season and Harris will be the backup again.

At $400k per season for Harris? I don't see that happening. They'll have to renegotiate his deal if they intend to start Burris next season, IMO.

There is absolutely no way Harris is #2 in Ottawa next year. If he isn't clear cut #1, he will not be there. I can't see him renegotiating his contract.

This game is a tough one.

-Would like to see Ottawa win as it would help sell tickets to the Grey Cup.
-But I think I'll throw something at the TV the first time Burris goes off about no respect!!!
-Don't really like Edm as Hervey/Maas seemed pretty arrogant this year.
-An Edm Cal/BC Grey Cup would not be the worst thing as the best teams would be playing.

So I'll sit back and hopefully enjoy some close games this weekend!!

Defense has been the main difference from last year. Of the 9 losses, 4 by less than 3 points.

Week 5 vs Sask - one point loss with both Harris and Burris out
Week 6 vs Toronto - Burris back I think?
Week 16 vs Sask - Missed FG in OT
Week 17 vs OT game, Fumble by Burris.

Both B.C. games could have went either way as well. Both those within one score.

Ottawa needs to pressure the QB to force mistakes. They don't do that and if the offense sputters even a little they'll likely lose.

I admit that I am hoping that the Eskimos win this game.

    1. Because they had the better regular season record.
    2. I'm REALLY curious to discover just how (supposedly) dismal the GC attendance and viewership numbers really are when two teams from the same division play in the championship.

    Sure no problem.

From the jerk who wouldn't shake hands at the coin toss, to the team missing the national anthem at a game, and to Ed (send him back to Compton) Hervey who crucified Simeon Rottier in public, they're classless.

Oh and add the mic issue and banning the Ottawa Lumberjacks from the Grey Cup and there you have it

If he was dead, Norm Kimball (the Eskimo Way) would be spinning in his grave.

Special Weather Statement for Ottawa starting Saturday night there could be 10-15 cm snow for Ottawa by the end of Sunday. Go Ottawa! Eastern team should represent the Eastern Football Conference in the Grey Cup!

    This could be interesting

The REDBLACKS will look to RNation to power them to their second straight trip to the Grey Cup as they eye a 12th consecutive sellout to rock TD Place. The only other thing needed … more COWBELL! Fans are encouraged to wear red and show their REDBLACKS pride to receive a free REDBLACKS cowbell. 20,000 cowbells will be handed out on Sunday.
