    Grey cup attendance worries

Can anybody offer any encouraging news on ticket sales? Cant find anything since mid OCT

BTW its all the fault of the Argos for not replacing Coach and GM, at the very least the ownership should have been monitoring any trades etc, they should have not been permitted to trade our best receivers away, not to mention the dumb trade for whats his name Willy. Yes I know normally ownership allows its GM/Coach to do their thing, but not to this degree. Just as you would not allow your GM to cut say a Bo Levi Mitchell or for the Leafs to sit Dave Keon, or for Oliers to bench Gretzky, you get the picture

I think Dave Keon is retired?

Yeah, it's too bad we gave away our own versions of Gretzky, Mitchell and Keon: Hazelton, Gurley and Elliott.

This is great in so many ways. Reminds me of watching an early episode of the Simpsons when Bart says: "You're the MAN, Homer.", and Homer's reply was "Thanks, Boy."

    And he meant it.

So, let me be sure I understand your point.
Potentially poor attendance at the Grey Cup is due to Argonauts' management not firing their HC and GM?

You'll have to explain this one to me please.

And yes, Dave Keon is retired.
    So is Wayne Gretzky btw.

It`s very simple. If Argos had a successful season, even if they did not make it to the Grey Cup there would be more excitement from the Grey Cup.

The home opener we stunk out the joint, Argos if they had been competitive we would have seen sell outs at many of the games.

When Barker/Milanovich brought in Willy, it was at a turning point, the team was playing well under Dan LeFavour, Argos probably damaged his confidence by bringing in Willy at that point, he was told even before his 2nd start that he was really not in the long term plan.

They should never have traded for Willy, and when they released our best receivers there was still a half decent chance of making the playoffs.

It`s pretty easy to understand I think

Looking at the ticketmaster Map, (assuming they are not holding back any seats) it does not look that bad.

One report suggested there was still 10,000 + seats available, Hamilton would have been the best hope, hopefully Ottawa knocks off Edmonton this Sunday, maybe that will help?

From how I've seen them selling other events, I think they tend to show only the lowest available two or three rows for the price in that section, when all or most of the ones higher up are also unsold.

here is the link from Oct 10th that states half of the 35,000 seats are still available, but no I have no link for the 10,000 plus still available, just my word that my sister told me this in her mass CFL reading

    Drew Edwards says today:

Members of the “TSN family” have been offered up to five free tickets to the Grey Cup in Toronto, per sources.

The offer was made to staffers via an email sent out this week. TSN holds the television rights to the CFL and broadcasts all of the league’s games.

It’s the latest sign that sales for the 104th Grey Cup aren’t going well. Organizers slashed ticket prices in mid-October in an attempt to spur languishing sales, angering those who had already bought tickets.

Sources say there could still be as with the game just over a week away. Seating capacity at BMO Field has been expanded for the game to approximately 35,000.

According to Argonaut team officials, TSN “purchased a block of tickets” but would not disclose what, if anything, TSN paid for them. TSN is owned by Bell Media, which also has an ownership stake in the Argonauts.
