Argos inquired about Burris before making Drew Willy trade

Wow, Barker and Milanovich really were desperate.

How is inquiring about a QB that has now taken his team to a 2nd consecutive Grey Cup desperate? I wish they could have made that deal now.
It's us vs the rest of the country

You don't think they should have inquired about Burris?
Cameron Dukes + Dan Adeboboye + Kevin Mital + David Ungerer + Damonte Coxie + DaVaris Daniels + Dejon Brissett = Unstoppable Force

We're not just a QB away from winning. On top of which we'd still have to trade assets for him, probably even more than what was traded for Willy (which may have lead to the Willy trade). Whether it was for Willy or Burris it's still a desperation move IMO, not trying to say that Burris isn't worthy of a starting QB spot in the CFL.

Burris and pending FA receiver Chris Williams would improve the Argos next season.

Easy opinion to have in hindsight. Go back to before the Willy trade and when Ray first got hurt ... this scenario is far from what you describe.

    Neither are free agents.

I agree with SnowRogue on this one.
The trade for Willy was clearly a desperate, short-sighted move to somehow attempt to salvage the season in the hope that the Argonauts could somehow make their way to another home Grey Cup game. If it was for Burris instead, it would still clearly be a desperate, short-sighted move.

OK..I thought Williams only signed a 1 year extension. As for Burris, if he wants to start next year, he will be leaving Ottawa one way or another.

I feel like the Drew Willy trade was a tremendous mistake but don't think it was short sighted. I heard Milanovich pushed hard for the trade because he thought Willy could make a difference now and be their elite starter for years to come.

I'm not convinced Milo actually felt that way. Could be just following the party line.

Hope this doesn't hurt Willy's confidence when he finds out he was Milanovich's second choice.

    "Second" a.k.a. "last".

I've never seen neither play defensive CB, HB or Safety, so I have to wonder how they would improve the team? We'd just become Hamilton at best. A team that would be 2 games below .500 at best and not win a playoff game. They have the same problems the Argos have, but with a better offensive line, and not much better.

Neither team has a balanced entertaining attack with a consistent running game that is used by the coaching staff, despite having decent backs. They also like to glue their QB's to the pocket, despite the Ticats having a guy that could roll out and throw the ball while doing so.

So Burris and Williams (sorry Snowrouges, I stand by my comment about Williams being a FA in February) would not improve the team? I would not ask them to play defense, help is required there is well. Obviously this team needs help just about every where. The GM, who ever that will be (come on Copeland, do something) and the HC ( again Copeland, don't be afraid of your shadow) are responsible for upgrades where you mentioned Gill.

Williams is a FA according to the CFL.ca and TSN list. I was pretty sure he signed an extension this past year, which he did, but it was a 1 year extension. In either case, we're not one WR and QB away from being a Grey Cup contender. Aside from Lirim Hajrullahu at kicker (who's a free agent himself), the team needs upgrades everywhere.
