Bo Levi Mitchell says that he will start throwing on Friday and expects to be ready for the August 17th game against the Als.
RB Romar Morris made a much quicker than usual return from an ACL injury, doing it in only nine months. While he gained only 14 yards on nine carries and 21 yards on four punt returns, he did have 49 yards on five catches.
Nick Arbuckle has been doing a good job as replacement for injured Bo Levi Mitchell, completing 73% of his passes, having a 8.9 yard gain per attempt and most important helping the Stampeders reach first place.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Bo Levi Mitcheii says he is ready to play but Dickenson says he needs to check out how Bo performs on the field in practice, not just his throwing arm.
It looks like Alex Singleton is staying in the NFL. In the last preseason game he had "16 DTs, a bigQB hit ... and should have had a fumble recovery but was ruled to have just touched the out of bounds line ... while playing all over the field." He also was the highest graded defensive player in the Eagles first preseason game. It tells you something about the CFL.

We'll see, obviously, but generally there aren't a lot of guys who get picked up on waivers after being cut. Teams usually are focused on the guys they chose to keep, and not casting about for anything other than injury replacements at this point. If the Eagles, who had the biggest opportunity to evaluate him, didn't think him worthy of their roster, I'm not sure any other team would feel differently. Maybe if there's a team that goes heavy on LBs and has some injuries. Singleton apparently was on the field for 98 plays the other night, including 80 on defence. (When do CFL teams ever run off 80 offensive plays? Never, thanks to the clock rules that came in some time over the past 20 or so years, but that's a debate for another day.)

Nice to see former Argos LB Corey Greenwood leading the league in tackles.

Alex Singleton has accepted a PR spot on the Philadelphia Eagles.
DB coach Josh Bell says Royce Metchie, third round pick out of Guelph in 2018, has shown the greatest rate of development of any CFL DB he has ever seen in the league. He became a starter at the beginning of this year and has played well ever since.

Bo Levi Mitchell looked good in his return to action after two shaky starts at the beginning of the season followed by a long injury layoff, in going 19/28 for 268 yards.
With Calgary's win over Edmonton, BLM became the winningest QB in Stampeder history with 72 victories.
Field corner Raheem Wilson is starting to get some attention as a potential roookie of the for the shutdown job that he has repeatedly done this year.
Reggie Begelton could potentially win the triple crown of receiving. He led the league in receiving yardage with 930 yards until BC's Burnham passed him by 13 yards today. He is tied for the lead in receiving TDs with Eric Rogers at 7 and in receptions with Bralon Addison at 66.

Calgary has added American DL Sterling Sheffield to their PR.
https://www.stampeders.com/2019/09/1...tice-roster-4/Sheffield signed with the National Football League’s Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2019, and attended training camp.
Sheffield was a first-team Colonial Athletic Association all-star at the University of Maine in 2018 after recording 84 tackles including 18 tackles for loss. Sheffield also had 9.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and seven pass breakups. Sheffield was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award which is presented annually to the Football Championship Subdivision’s top defensive player. He was second-team all-CAA in 2017, third-team all-CAA in 2016 and was Maine’s defensive rookie of the year in 2015.
Over his career with the Black Bears, Sheffield accumulated 229 tackles including 44.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks, five interceptions, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 15 pass breakups.
Reggie Begelton continues to do well in the triple crown of receiving race. After the weekend games he grabbed back the lead in receiving yardage with 1,036 yards, is third in receptions with 72 but only two behind Bralon Addison and one behind Brandon Banks, while falling one behind teammate Eric Roger's eight reception TDs. Cory Greenwood continues to lead in tackles with 79. However, both have been placed on the injured list in the last day.
With WRs Reggie Begelton, Marketh Ambles, Richie Sandani, and Juwan Brescacin all injured, the Stampeders were forced to go with a lineup against the Argos where none of the receivers, other than Eric Rogers, had a receiving TD and none had more than 176 yards receiving even after the Argo game, yet Bo Levi Mitchell was able to pass for 346 yards. It says something about Bo's QB skills, the Stampeder depth at receiver and ability to recruit new players or the Argo pass defence, or, more likely, all three.
