Good riddance as his player evaluations decisions have caused havoc and likely taken years from the team in moving ahead.

My take is he didn't like the direction the organization was going in and looked for a way out, contacted his NFL contacts and resigned ASAP.

Looks like we can close out that "fire Milanovich and Barker" thread now.

What a wonderful job JB and SM they did with their player moves in 2016. JB is pushed and SM jumps. Just in time to let JB's brand new assistant player personnel now acting GM heading into FA period. Wow. I guess structure of football operations is now more important than ever.

Good opportunity for him. I wish him all the best.

I never like seeing a coach being left as a lame duck for the new GM to pick off or reluctantly keep. It's worked out decent for some teams (Casey with the Raptors for a local example), but it seems rare.

I think he probably thought he was going to be fired at the end of last season and started looking then. He was probably just as surprised as we were that he wasn't fired and had to actually resign.

Good job by Milanovich if he lined up this new gig only after Barker was fired.

I bet he has been looking for work since November. He expected to be fired, so why wouldn't he send out feelers down south? Now that the guy who hired him is gone, his job security was marginal at best. So can't say I blame him.

I like Milanovich as a coach although even I have to acknowledge that his offence has looked really poor since midway through 2015. How much of that was scheme and how much was personnel will be a matter of conjecture forever, but there were definitely elements of both at play.

So now we get a completely clean slate, which many fans were demanding. Timing sucks but Copeland will just have to make the best of it. Despite the tight timing, IMO it is imperative that he hire a GM first. Saddling a GM with a coach he didn't hire almost never works.

I can't see anyone on the current Argo staff that should be given serious consideration as HC.

Despite the new "rule" on poaching coaches and execs, I cannot believe Orridge would prevent an individual from accepting a job that offered a serious promotion and pay increase, even if it happened after the Jan. 31 "deadline." Make a guy serve out an assistant coach/assistant GM contract paying maybe $80k rather than accept a GM/HC contract paying maybe $250-300k? Try it, and wait for the restraint-of-trade lawsuit.

Doubtful. The QB job came available after NFL season. I doubt no other candidates were consider and Scott's call earlier in the week landed him the position. That hiring took weeks.

Rich Stubler only Argos coach under contract. He has HC experience from Argos years back. Could be interim HC until HC found.

If we have to go the interim route, it should be Pinball. He could make a role known to be interim work without losing the players along the way. Stubler not shown he can be an effective head coach, IMO.

But screw interim. I want a permanent GM and a permanent HC, and I want them both to be successful from Day 1. The ball's in your court, Copeland.
