I think we need some 'faces' in the coaching staff --names people recognize and can create some buzz around Argo land.
Would be fun but I think Doug makes a ton of money calling US College football, we are talking perhaps the entire CFL salary cap?

I really don't think that you are grasping that playing careers have squat to do coaching ability. Maybe the Patriots should fire Belischek because he doesn't meet your criteria as far as a playing career goes.

The best former player coaches are usually the ones who spent a lot of time on the bench listening to and observing coaches. Star players are rarely good coaches.

Funny enough a friend of mine used to train NHL (and CFL) players and one of them played for Gretzky in Phoenix and he said that Gretzky was the worst coach that he ever played for.

A good point, many coaches over the years never even played football. what`s the old saying you dont have to be a chicken to lay an egg. But in the case of being a QB coach not the same at all. What`s a below average backup QB like Milanovich going to do, show the better more superior QB how to grasp the ball... be sure to not throw it like I did I guess he could say... watch me, see how its not accurate with not much of a spiral, and notice it does not go far. Now if you can do the opposite of me you have it . I wager if you asked the former Argo QB`s Harris and Collaros if they learned more from Ricky Ray or from Milanovich... I hope you know what the answer is

Have you ever spoken to Collaros? I know people that have and he has much respect for Milanovich.
By the way..How great a QB was Josh McDaniels? I ask because he is the QB coach and OC for the Tom Brady led Patriots.

Really, stop making a fool of yourself with some of these ridiculous comments putting down the accomplishments of good football coaches.

I will also add, unless you're Tebow do QB coaches really just work on improving spirals? I don't think so.

At the pro level QB coaches are more for the mental aspect of the game than the physical.

That would be true in the NFL, but don't you think a QB Coach in the CFL might have to teach the young American QB's more because of the rules.

Learning the rules definitely falls under the mental aspect and not the physical.

Jason Maas and Jarious Jackson both had only brief stints as starting QBs in the CFL and were mostly career backups. Both are doing just fine coaching in the CFL.

Maas had more than a brief stint as a starter. He was the starter in Edmonton for at least 3 full seasons.

And as a backup, he saved Edmonton's butt in the 2005 playoffs when Ray was ineffective.

The coaching change was necessary but the way it played out was totally bush league by Copeland and the Argonauts.
Milanovich won a cup but also put up with a lot of crap with no complaints during his tenure and deserved more respect than twisting waiting to see if the new GM wanted to keep him or not.
    Those things don't go unnoticed.

Yes I agree. I still can't believe this has played out the way it has.
