I agree, but they'd both need to be properly replaced. Both have been captains. Both can start, and they bring tons of leadership and experience. Unless this season is a tank job (a deplorable concept) you have to bring in that much, or more.

There is no reason to ever tank in the CFL as there is not a draft pick that can completely turn around a franchise the way the league is set up. I just think that Copeland badly underestimated how difficult it is to hire the right people.

I'd rather see the Argos go after Anthony Allen than for them to go after Bell.

That's a pretty big if when it comes to Sears, but I agree a good get and a very good player............... when healthy. We might finally have a good Sam linebacker.

Weren't they thinking of going with coombs at RB for ratio reasons (which is a huge mistake IMO). I would go with Bell over Allen, but both might be cheap right now because spots around the league are filled. Is rutley still available too? by next week the backs will be very very cheap.

I'd take Allen over Bell. Argos really had problems on O last year converting 2nd and 2 or 3. I'd love to have more of a power back to convert those on a regular basis.

I'd take Allen over Bell. At 6'1 220 lb, he's power back who has shown can gain the short yardage on second downs, as AngeloV says. In his rookie year he gained 930 yards after 13 games and was on his way to winning the rushing title when injury struck. However, like Bell, he has had injury problems, but this more or less goes with being a RB.

The signing of Webster may mean the present brain trust is moving on from Matt Black. Maybe another safety picked up in the draft as well for depth.

However, I agree that under these circumstances getting Black back helps.
