No Coach, No GM = instability. There is uncertainty. Players have no idea if their game will suit who will be in place. The facilities are the worst in the league, there isn't even a work out room. It's the 2nd most expensive town to live in in the whole league. The media ignores them, and the fans don't support them.....and this is a team that was already trending in the wrong direction.

They're the worst team in the league.

    Where do I sign?

Yes, they will get some FA's but in almost all cases -- it's going to take more money.

With a 5.1 Million dollar salary cap this adds up to getting less for more. We'll get the picked over stuff.

These are the realities that the Argos are faced with.

Before they had bad management; now they don't have any. Copeland says he wants to do 'it the right way.' Too late.

We can only hope that the organization is able to make a decent case to FAs based on as-yet unannounced plans. Not long to wait now...

That was the party line, but I am not so sure it's completely true. My memory is hazy, didn't Owens panic a little? I don't remember how far into free agency it was until he signed, but I think it was rather quick. There may have been interest elsewhere, but he jumped on the Cats actual offer before it was retracted. As I mentioned before, the move revitalized his career and I think he would fit in well back here, at the right price of course.

I must admit, the delay in management has now got me concerned. I would have thought for sure everything would be in place by the draft. Gonzo makes some good points that the Argos might face. However, they did resign 5 nationals, including Coombs, who many thought would bolt for the Peg. I still stand by the fact Tristan O. signed for more money and all the great stories are coincidence or "cherries on the cake" stuff. The Bombers aren't saying his contract, so it's likely overvalued. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 150 000+ which is 20 000+ more than the reported Argos offer, enough for any player to play in Canada's most violent city. I thought the Argos offer was fair, keeping in mind they already have some big contracts on the line.

Tristan O's agent tweeted he is now the highest paid DE in the CFL. All speculation but Argos offered $130k, Cappiocoti is at $150k, so is he making more than that? He might well be.

All these CFL salary numbers - thrown around by the media, (and a certain fan site where some are obsessed by them) - are good for a laugh; totallly unsubstantiated, rumours and gossip. Sounds like a bunch of gossiping old ladies to me, but I get that there is a CFL $M$.

If i had to guess though - the likes of John Chick, Odell Willis and Charleston Hughes are pretty well paid CFL DEs. And the Bummers Westerman might be pretty po'd if they handed Okpo better money than he's getting.

Salary Cap for 2017 is $5.15 million, and I think Montreal has a worse practice situation than we do.

    Let's see....
2012 Argos win the Grey Cup
2013 Argos win the division but are upset in the East final.
2014 Tristan O signs with the Argos. All downhill from there.

Already posted in the "top 30" thread, but this is the FA discussion thread.

Apparently we have some sort of plan at tailback if Whitaker isn't even welcome to compete for his old job. Hard to see what it is, though...

I hope to see Greenwood wearing double blue next season, top end talent IMO, but the injury problems are probably a concern. As for Whitaker, I wouldn't have much issue seeing him back as a backup, but that's it.

My reading of "Greenwood will hit market" is that we tried to extend him but couldn't come to terms. He may yet return.

Whitaker always a good soldier in Toronto, interesting to know who they have in mind as a replacement.
Probably want to go younger and cheaper.
I'm sure many Argo free agents who endured last season will explore any and all opportunities to get out of town especially considering the Argos current situation.

Looks like a lot of good names will hit the market. If the money isn't there in this year's market, can this help the Argos land key free agents despite no GM/HC. Moving on from Greenwood and Whitaker will free up some cap space and I kept hearing the Argos were never close to using all of its cap the past few seasons.
