Only in an inverse reality would having Jim Popp and Marc Trestman be construed as a bad, or negative thing. The Argos, their fans, and the CFL let out a giant 'phew' while wiping their brows when the news was confirmed. This is a momentous game changer that could possibly help see this franchise return to a general positive light. Its a first, very important step. You'd have to ignore thousands of the' most informed and knowledgeable CFL minds to concoct a negative angle on this development. If you can, then you should be in politics as a critic in a key portfolio -- as a member of the opposition. (;

I have to admit, I was really pissed at Copeland when he fired Barker. Having said that, I really wish that some people would stop acting as if they know everything that happened. We don't know whether Copeland made the call, or whether ownership made the call. Some are on here calling Copeland a blatant liar, when they really have no clue. As I kept saying when all the doom and gloom people were letting loose, it's a long way until the season starts. Really funny to see the reactions of so many.

Life is a game of cards. Copeland just came up with a good hand. But the longer the game goes, the closer we get to the truth. Can Copeland play cards? Jury is out. I'll give him a few more hands. If he stays out of Football Ops, I'll even give him a few more after that.

It's funny reading the comments on the article. I have to agree with most of them that the article has a half-truth kind of feel to it. Doesn't matter though, we have solid leaders at present time and I am looking forward to reading about the Argos every day. I still won't believe everything coming out of Copeland's mouth however. I guess he's a better talking head than our previous one, I'll give him that.

If Tanenbaum strongly suggested that Copeland look south of the border, what is Copeland to do? Copeland may have done a brilliant job in the end by bringing in a big NFL name in Trestman, thus satisfying Tanenbaum, who has a proven history in this league.

This is fascinating. I've been saying for months that Tannenbaum is likely wanting to bring some big American names to the Argonauts, but who would have guessed that Trestman qualified as a big American name? I still believe that Tannenbaum has got Popp on the hunt for much bigger names.
