Fall 2021 CFL Scouting Bureau rankings are out.
Walerloo QB Tre Ford at #9 = LOL
With the Lions beating Ottawa by 29 points with thirteen minutes to go in the fourth quarter, both Farhan Lalji and Matt Dunnigan started commenting that it was time to put in Nathan Rourke both to keep Reilly, who has had arm problems and is showing his age at times, and to give Rourke some game reps so he was better able to take over if Reilly goes down to injury at some point in the future, which happened to every season-starting QB in 2019. Instead Rick Campbell kept Reilly in the game until two minutes were left and had Rourke hand off twice in his only game action. The Lions have also just signed former 2018 seventh round New England Patriot draft pick QB Danny Etling, who never played a down in the regular season in the NFL. Does this foreshadow another back-to-the-future treatment of Canadian QBs?

I really doubt the Lions and GOB Campbell are ready to give up on Rourke just yet, Jerry; they used a draft pick on him and he flashed some good skills when he got to play earlier this season. But Reilly is getting on in age/mileage and has had injury issues, so maybe they are just thinking about the future? But also never under-estimate a GOB personnel guy's penchant for signing ex-NFL draft picks; maybe they figure this guy can get them Tom Brady's autograph (along the lines of the Ticats using a first overall draft pick on an ex Patriot PR guy) ;o) LOL
Meanwhile - the Ticats, with Evans injured, have signed Canadian QB Graham Kelly - who wasn't even a starter at Mount Allison, but who got signed to play down in Mexico as part of Ambrosie's big genius "global" scheme ??? With all of the snubbing and lack of respect and ignorance of Canadian QBs over the decades by the GOBs, this is a guy who gets signed to a CFL roster ???
CFL is screwing with Canadians - ALL PLAYERS AND POTENTIAL COACHES.
As expected the Tiger Cats have signed an American QB, Jalen Morton, to their PR as soon as he completed his time in quarantine. Morton spent time in pre-season in the NFL with the Packers and Colts in 2020-21. Canadian QB Graham Kelly is no longer on the roster.
Ambrosia and the CFL's 2 QBs only bull$hite reared it's ugly head in Ottawa last night, with both Davis & Nichols injured in the game and the RedBlacks forced to go with receiver Nate Behar as an emergency QB = bush league stuff.
OTOH, Behar probably could do no worse than that stiff Dominique Davis, who has repeatedly demonstrated he has no business playing QB in the CFL but keeps getting handed GOB chances. Ex-NFLer (6 starts for the Steelers) QB Duck Hodges has been signed by Ottawa and will probably be the next QB saviour there.
Sad/pathetic/laughable that clown Desjardins has never heard of Canadian QBs to give one of them a shot to compete in such a huge area of need - GOB classic stuff. Desjardins could have drafted Ottawa guy Michael O'Connor (or signed him as a FA away from the Argos); could have drafted Nathan Rourke (outstanding US college ball resume, but still a Canadian to be written-off); or could have drafted or FA signed Hec & Vanier winning QB Adam Sinagra from the Dinos. But clearly he has zero interest in Canadians playing "skill" positions for his football team; same deal for tailback there where ultra mediocres like Moises Madu and now Ned Flanders get handed the job and Canadians don't get to compete.
Desjardins & LaPo - a couple of classic GOBs in charge of the Ottawa team and making them look like a total joke; just what Ottawa needed.
CFL teams can choose to dress 3 QBs if they want. It would just mean they'd have to go with one fewer designated imports. Calgary (and maybe another team or two) have done so this year.
I wouldn't mind seeing the rules amended so that a third QB could be dressed as long as he is a National, without affecting the number of designated imports.
I'm not sure why Lapolice was so confident in Davis and already-injured Nichols that he would choose a fourth designated import over a third QB.
I watched Tre Ford play against Laurier on Saturday. He looked like a man playing against boys. It will be interesting to see how he plays against Western and Guelph.
Nice! I'm disappointed Waterloo are not coming to town to play either the GGs or Ravens this season; wanted to see this Ford kid play. Wonder if they can take the OUA ? - Western already beaten by Guelph.
Speaking of Canadian QBs - yesterday, Concordia QB Olivier Roy set a new RESQ single game passing mark with 580 yards in the game ! If Canadian football got some respect in it's own country, a bunch of people (including some GOB scouts) might take notice.
Connor O'Neil is saying good things about the Carleton quarterback Tanner DeJong. I have to watch the Carleton-York game on demand.

HC Rick Campbell let Nathan Rourke start playing with 2:28 left in the game and, unlike the last game where he only had Rourke hand off the ball with less than two minutes to go, allowed Rourke to throw. Rourke went 5/8 for 55 yards with an interception on a long bomb to the end zone which was of course well anticipated with the game winding down and the Bombers waiting for it. The important thing is that Rourke's passes have a much tighter spiral than in his college days thanks to his hard work. Campbell has said he has to tell Rourke the building is closing to get him to leave the place.
Dave Naylor says the Alouettes are looking for another quarterback with Adams on the six game injured list. Wouldn't be great if they signed Adam Sinagra or Chris Merchant. I know, it will never happen. He comes another American college stiff.
Sad thing is there - Hugo Richard might have become the starter there with Adams out - little question in my mind he is a far superior QB talent to Shiltz; but Richard quit the Als - saying he had a good job/career to get on to; however, he might have read the writing on the wall there from his one year of experience; and even with (you'd think anyways) Maciocia in his corner, he might have thought he had little chance to progress; they did sign some young new American QBs for TC.
Sinagra or Merchant are obvious total write-offs to the GOB clique/club - which Maciocia is a card carrying member of.
BTW - McMaster QB Andreas Dueck is completing close to 80% of his pass attempts (off the charts outstanding) this season thus far; I believe he would be draftable for the CFL 2022 draft; along with Tre Ford from Waterloo - look for same old GOB stuff there.
Just like OV Argo suggested, the Dunkster is suggesting that the Alouettes best solution at back up quarterback is to have Canadian quarterback Hugo Richard come out of retirement.
