He certainly did that in Vancouver and Toronto where he threatened Kevin Lowe to a fistfight in a barn. Just what the CFL needs - fans going to games where hockey fights break out started by the commissioner.

The Score’s Sophia Jurksztowicz talked to Leafs hockey boss Brian Burke about the feud that erupted between him and Oilers hockey boss Kevin Lowe, after Lowe signed Burke’s free agent, Dustin Penner, to an offer sheet.
In the interview, Burke describes how the death of his 21-year-old son Brendan in a car crash in February, 2010 helped convince him that he was going too far in the feud, though NHL commissioner Gary Bettman also helped calm things down at one key point.
At one point, Burke’s wife also overheard Burke on the phone, this time talking to Glen Sather of the Rangers, where Burke asked Sather to act as an intermediary to set up a fist fight between him and Lowe.

Burke proved to be abrasive and "thin skinned" during his tenure with the Leafs and would probably open up a can of whoopass on any smarmy reporter who criticized the league.

This league needs all the smarmy reporters criticizing it that it can get. Coverage of any sort is better than no coverage at all.

I agree with you on this. I don't think Burke would be a bad choice, but in reality is he going to leave a job that pays millions for a job that pays a few hundred grand? I highly doubt it.

When Cohon left and they were doing interviews, I thought I read that the salary was around $1M.

The media would immediately smell blood with a personality like Burke in charge of the CFL and it would quickly turn into a fiasco.
How about we apply for the job and split the salary😛
