    Double Blue Room Draft Pool

    Something fun.

Make your picks, and we'll see who is the best bird-dog in these parts.

Make a primary and a secondary Argo pick per round that they will be drafting in.

*5 points if you nail a pick in the correct round with your primary pick
**3 points for a secondary pick in the correct round
***1 point if you get a pick but in another round

Feel free to change your picks as things move along. I will take a screen shot an hour prior to the draft and that is what we'll go with.

    --------------------

    I'll start;

    Jon Gonzo

Round 2; (primary pick) Kay Okafor (DE)/ (secondary pick) Christophe Malumba (LB)
Round 3; Jordon Herdman (MLB)/ Randy Colling (DT)
Round 4; Justin Senior (RT)/ Mitchell Picton (SB)
Round 5; Fred Chagnon (LB)/ Matt Singleton (OLB)
Round 7; Corey Williams (OLB)/ Adam Adeboboye (WR)

OK - I'll play - though predicting the CFL draft is maybe tougher than hitting the 6/49 numbers bang-on ;o)

Round 2 - Jeremy Zyver / Jordan Herdman

Round 3 - Connor McGough / Nate Hamlin

Round 4 - Nakas Onyeka / Fredric Chagnon

Round 5 - Dakota Brush / Danny Sprukulis

Round 7 - Omar Toure / Johan Pataki

I am bumping this for Sunday. Who's brave enough? We'll let you fiddle with your picks until just before draft time should you desire to.

Huge interest here buddy. Between me & you. I'll bet we both strike out with zero points. Jimmy P will draft some long-range fullback or O-line "projects". ;o)

I certainly don't have an informed opinion this year - and I'm traveling this weekend and will miss the whole thing - but I'll play along. I like the draft.

    4: J Senior, A Morrison
    5: N Onyeka, F Menard-Briere

It's not easy. Okafor or Colling in the 3rd would be some fine drafting & would make me rather happy.

Interesting with the number of NI linebackers you have targeted - and seems like a big need with Greenwood & Miles gone - even for depth / special teamer need.

Cenerini was a tackling machine at Carleton and posted some good athletic testing #s at the Combines - under-sized a bit maybe; one of the under-rated /off the charts type this draft IMO - love to see the Argos get him and he ends up a special teams tackler leader type.

JS Roy or Johnson would be absolute steals in the 5th round IMO (both with arguably far better O-line resumes than last year's picks Sackey & Campbell) - bet they both go quite a bit higher.

Mulumba still there when the Argos first pick, AND he doesn't stick in the NFL and shows up for Argo TC and is given a real shot to win the vacant MLB job would be real nice IMO.

According to SUN, Argos are dangling Brian Jones to BC or Winnipeg to move up in draft order

I hope they don't trade Jones to move up. IMO, he has already shown so much potential and could easily develop into a star. Since many early draft choices don't pan out, I think we could easily lose a player who has already shown he can play for a maybe with potential. It also looks like this a relatively deep draft at several positions meaning that even drafting tenth is likely to allow the Argos to draft a good player who has a strong potential to be a starter. Poppy's addiction to Canadian linemen may well be behind this.

Argos have already given Winnipeg enough heading into this draft.
The rumours involving a player like Jones don't surprise me as he was drafted by the previous regime.

Yep; that, plus - standard GOB thinking often has one NI receiver at wide-side WR to meet the 7 only need apply ratio problem; Jones is a slotback - and that can be a key, more targeted spot in the 5 pack - and imports may be preferred there by this regime ? Noel could play wide-side WR as the one NI in the 5 pack.

I've been off the board for a while and didn't see this thread until just now so I don't have any official entry but I would have scored a goose egg anyway. Nice work Wobbler.

99% luck, obviously, but I like it when we use mid-to-late picks on linebackers - who are often good special teamers at least. I'm glad we got him (and Herdman).

I'd expect both Herdman and Onyeka to make the Argo roster as special teams gunners, and wouldn't be surprised to see them 1-2 in ST tackles this year.

Maybe a little, but there's strategy there too. That's what you get for paying attention. Intuition. Good job, and I hope these guys rock on Teams.

What was there about 20 guys picked who weren't on the main list? Augustine didn't get picked. I would rate Popp's picks in lower half of the teams. Which isn't surprising going by his history. He got some good players in the past picking red shirt juniors like Bourke, Perrett, Blake etc. but can't do that anymore. The hope has to be that Woods and Woodson eventually turn into starters.

Woods has the masssive O-line size + Div I starting resume = maybe a starter sooner than later but he is behind vets like Holmes, Deane & Dyakowski for a guard spot; they might think with his height/reach he is a potential OT down the road, but doubtful IMO; just like Sackey & Campbell are IMO doubtful to get a real shot to be CFL starting OTs.

Woodson is a CIS all-star D-half with some very good athletic testing #s; very doubtful he gets a real shot to play D-half (where the Argos have huge need but there Canadians just don't get to play in the current GOB CFL) but he will probably be viewed as a future safety who could maybe also be a decent back-up CB or D-half? I'll be very interested to hear where he lines-up in TC.

Evan Foster is sort of a wild-card pick this draft IMO; under-sized maybe at DE but strong & athletic and a real play-maker on D in CIS ball; Joe Montford was an all-time great CFL DE cause he was super strong & quick despite being small compared to most DEs; and Alex Bazzie got plenty of CFL DE playing time as a rush end for Wally in BC and he's same size range as Foster; love to see Foster make the roster and at least get some D reps at DE to see what he can do; bet he can be a force on STs at least to start too.
