ANDRE TALBOT

Talbot, who played his first football game at Paul Dwyer high school in Oshawa, had a 10-year pro career in the Canadian Football League, including a Grey Cup winning season with the Toronto Argonauts in 2004.

Now 38, Talbot was a star quarterback and receiver at Dwyer before following in the footsteps of his uncle, Dwyer coach Mike Wilson, and playing his collegiate career with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, where he was a two-time all-Canadian and team MVP at the receiver position.

Talbot spent nine of his 10 seasons in the CFL with the Argos, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2001 draft. After nearly quitting football in his second season due to injuries and frustration, Talbot caught on as a receiver with the team and ended up with 288 career receptions for 3,703 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In 2008, Talbot had career highs of 76 receptions and 915 yards, and was the Argos’ nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian. He retired in 2010 after a season with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Andre Talbot was inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. Michael "Pinball" Clemons arrived and provided a moving tribute to one of his all time Argos. Much love in the room between Andre and "Pinball."

We just learned last night that Andre, like " Pinball" was raised by a single mother. We lucked out and were seated at a table with one of the father figures for Andre in his formidable years, Charlie who was Olympic judo champion.

"Pinball" was a surprise to Andre and made his entrance very special.

I just caught that, you played for the JV Oshawa Hawkeyes in 88? Did you attend Fan Day 2015 in Oshawa?

I played for the CJFL Hawkeyes in 88 and 89. It's too bad they no longer have a team. I remember when they recruited me at the high school All star classic at Varsity stadium. That was our chance to showcase out talents back then as the OVFL was not around.
