    Final Roster

Seeing as how it's final cutdown day, I figured we'd need a thread about the decisions. I hope/expect we end the day with at least 60 and preferably about 65 guys still around -- 46 + full PR and a large IR. That would mean letting about 15-20 guys go. I also hope we are able to keep every one of our young NATs, including all of this year's picks, Kolankowski, Sackey and Ralph. They all look like guys who can play in this league.

Ralph had a great pre-season. He wears a great number too (88).

    CODY Fajardo

I will be extremely disappointed if he does not wind up as the #3. Personally I think he should be #2 but understand Willy gets that... why I dont know, if they cut Cody will be speechless

Ralph needs to be a starter

What about Khalil Paden have not heard his name mentioned, had assumed he would be a starting WR

Is Kenny Stafford better than Edwards, Fuller, Paden or Posie?

I'd say he is, and he's only 27 and has a Jim Popp history.

    Kenny Stafford anyone?

No thanks to Stafford, team chemistry is a big thing in football.
Looks like we have some promising talent at receiver this season, let's give them time to develop together.

Coaching staff cannot just pick the best players. The also have to balance the Ratio, D.I.s, on field ratio, starters, age and injuries. I don't know how they can do all this effectively 1 day after the last preseason game and some guys will be cut that maybe shouldn't be.

The reason that they not only use exhibition games but more so training camp to determine their roster.

And team meetings. And the ability to quickly absorb a pro playbook. And the cap. And probably other factors we never hear about.

I'd prefer the team not "cheat" and keep a bunch of players around ala Chris Jones' Roughriders. Good teams can find talent when they need to in a pinch.

And no thank you to Stafford, who's biggest accomplishment seems to be being related to Duron and Cris Carter. Serious question: What exactly has Stafford done in his career to warrant more opportunities ?

It's not cheating if players are on a roster, whether it's PR or IR. It's cheating if they're being kept around but do not appear on any list. Has Hamilton cheated by having 15-20 players on IR? IMO no -- if they are willing to absorb those costs, keep injured players off the practice field and stay within the cap, it's not cheating, it's smart management.

I politely disagree Paul. IMO the Tillman way (taking advantage of the rules by having a bunch of fake injuries on the IR) is a form of cheating. And, I'm just not a fan of it.

Some was just checking out our rookie Canadians we signed this year . It looks as if Onyeka and Woodson can return to USports ( CIS) .... Have a limit of 5 years playing and be 24 and under by Sept 1st ..... I think ....
Ralph may qualify but it's not clear .......BUT ..... I can't track down Herdman on the roster

The problem is, others in our division are doing it. To compete on a level playing field, I believe we need to do it as well. Using the injury list to keep promising or depth guys around has been going on for at least a couple of decades.

We also underutilized our roster for years. "Cheat" away, I say!

If other teams are doing it, it would be stupid to put yourself at a disadvantage by not doing it.

Still isn't as bad a the pre-practice roster. Now that is cheating.
