Exclamation Donate Argonauts Tickets to Charity

The Argos have also set up a mechanism for anyone who wants to donate the tickets they purchase to underprivileged youth in the Toronto community. To take advantage of this offer, please contact Melissa Robinson at mrobinson@argonauts.ca or 416-341-2787.

The word "donate" usually suggests charitable status in Canada. I would probably use the word "gift". Given that the Argos no longer have a charitable foundation, the mechanism isn't there to legally recognize donations and subsequently to issue charitable receipts.

The reason I raise this, is that in the past, I was a donor with an Argos/Salvation Army charitable initiative to send inner city youth to games at the SkyDome. The Argos would provide a nice discount on group tickets, I would write a cheque directly to Sally Anne. Sally Anne would issue me a charitable receipt. The group would get about $4,000 face value worth of tickets, I'd be out-of-pocket about $1,000 (after tax credit). A whole bunch of young people that due to the circumstances don't have the father/mother-son/daughter connection get a glimpse of what I've taken for granted for 50 years.

Looks like our Purolator tackle hunger game this year is Sept 23 .... according to the web site below.

I was able to gift some of my flex tickets to Mike Clemons... thinking about giving additional for the CNE game....
