I believe Trestman could play both Fajardo and Mathews depending on the situation. Cody looked like a deer in the headlights when he first came in but did settle down somewhat. Calgary defense did back off a bit late in the game and didn't bring as much pressure but it was a good chance for Cody to get some time at game speed.
But I can see Trestman starting him and play it by ear from there. Mathews did look good in the second pre-season game in Montreal.

Cody lead team to 2 Field goals and a TD, COMPLETED 6 OF 11 passes a long bomb to Green, the TD he took in himself, I think he was great cold off the bench without reps. Not to mention he has been almost perfect in short yardage, last year threw at least 1 TD, the one I recall was a surprise to the other team as they thought he would run.

I think Cody will be the future if we dont blow it by playing others. The idea of Matthews to me is a terrible idea, just my opinion

An immobile QB does not work in the CFL.
Name another starting QB in the league as immobile as RR.

Four consecutive years of getting hurt (Ray) should be enough to get
that point through even the thickest CFL heads.

Danny McManus was a slow, lead-foot QB who won a GC; so did Mike Kerrigan for the Ticats; Ricky Ray has 10x the mobility of either of those guys - and Ray is hardly a good running/scrambling QB but IMO his mobility, and, decision making to take off with the ball to gain some valuable yards once in awhile, are quite under-rated. The injury was mostly on him - he held on to the ball way to long on that play, and this can happen to even the best of QBs. And when you have a weak O-line and little to no run game, so it's obvious you are going to be passing most of the time = your QB could get hit - LOTS.

I agree that the prototypical and preferred CFL QB is very mobile. However, Ray was working quite well (leading all CFL QBs, IIRC). Alas, his protectors were not working to anything like the same standard. Exit Ray.

I'd say that at least one of the last five Cup winning QBs was as immobile as RR.

I figured, but on the off chance Wobbler potentially meant Mitchell (who is nowhere near as immobile as Ray), it was worth asking. No need for the snarky remark.

If you took it as snarky, I apologize. I would have thought the answer was rather obvious. I've never heard Mitchell described as immobile.

Dont know the guy am just a believer in Fajardo, call it a gut feeling. Apparently I am not alone, my take is that overwhelming majority want Fajardo to start in Rays place. This is a bit unusual because I have found myself on minority side more often than not in situations like this.

Not me. If Ray is healthy I'd want him to start. If not then Fajardo.

It was implied that only if Ray was injured

Ray has made plenty of plays this year after sliding left or right to buy some time. I find the argument that you can't win because he's not mobile enough to be stupid. He's also been in far better physical shape as an Argo than he ever was as an Eskimo.

If you can't rush the passer and protect the passer in today's gamer, you generally don't win. Problem is that our o-line has been an issue ever since he got here, even in 2012. Until that gets fixed, Ray or whoever else plays QB will be in more danger of getting injured than QBs on the elite teams.

Now may be the time to call the Esks and try to pry James Franklin with a multi player deal.
Especially since he will be a FA at year end and they will get nothing for him.

They don't care about getting nothing if he leaves. They care about keeping the only other QB on their roster who can fill in for an injured Reilly on a team with serious Grey Cup aspirations.

Probably some mind games, though I'm sure the Als are planning as if Ray will start.

No, Ray is clearly the least productive runner of the bunch. My point was that you don't need to be particularly mobile to succeed in pro football.

You don't but you would need a better O-Line than Toronto currently has.
