Have you seen late round draft pick DE Kwaku Boateng play for the Esks this year? - playing more reps every game it seems - on the field almost as much as vet import starters Willis & Howard lately, and Boateng is looking quite strong - fast & explosive with a couple of sacks already. The Argos could have drafted him several times over, but chose to pass; but they did use a much higher pick than where Boateng went to take DE Evan Foster - who i guess just hasn't panned out for any playing time (inspite of a strong ex. game performance); funny how some young guys work out when they are given a shot at playing time. Another later round draft pick - DT Justin Vaughn - is playing some on the Ticats D-line rotation.

I'm with you on that one. I can't see Foster, who is really a short 5'11 225 instead of his listed 6'1 245, ever being a force at DE. Maybe they can eventually make a back up MLB out of him and hope he is a special teams star. Boateng is turning out to be what I thought he would be on what I saw of him on the field. However we don't see off field issues that the teams do. Not saying Boateng had any but something seems to have had teams passing on him.

Don't see why he could not be given some reps at DE to see what he can do - especially with Butler out. He did make some impact in playing time in an exhibition game.

CFL teams yearly/routinely pass on proven, all-star, top notch position players in the draft to instead take special teamers/guys seen as back-ups only or "projects" = dumb /laughable - just IMO of course.

Foster's preseason play was almost certainly against guys who eventually got cut. Did he ever face guys in college as big and strong and athletic as most CFL OTs are? I suspect not. He might well develop into a player, but IMO he would probably be overmatched at DE at this point in his career.

You're entitled to your opinion there of course and can base it on whatever predictable stuff.

Have you seen Boateng play DE for the Esks this season? Has he been over-matched playing against pro O-linemen? Maybe the Esks coaching staff missed the memo about ALL Canadian players needing years to "develop" before they should get any CFL playing time opportunity? You should let them in on this info.
