Smart move. Barring a huge turnaround their season is over, so get what you can for vets that won't help you 2+ years down the line.

I was wondering after the game friday night if the TiCats might be considering cutting Chick before the September deadline for veterans. He is not the force he used to be.

Esks have so many injuries - including 2 vet DEs in Hunt & Marcus Howard - so adding more strength there, on a team looking to win first place in the West (and a bye to the West final) - pull out all the stops to add whatever is needed I guess? And the Esks have so many young NIs and recent draft picks make their roster, it might be very tough for more to make it next season; and with it looking like maybe not a real deep draft year coming up (IMO), then maybe Sunderland figures trading away a 2nd rounder will not hurt that much.

And IMO Chick is most likely not even close to done like some are suggesting - he was about the top D player in the league last year (i could see a close 2nd to Sol-E) IMO and I doubt he has faded away to useless that fast - on a joke of a Ticat team?. Esks get a top notch, vet D player for a team that is on a serious run for a GC appearance = smart.

Good trade for Edmonton, Chick will be rejuvenated going to a playoff team.
