I interpreted Ferguson's post as meaning he is getting paid more this year than next year, i.e. it is front-loaded to 2017, not in 2017. Who knows?
I'm guessing he got a big bonus at the end of last season that they may have been able to fit under 2016 Cap. I know the Argos have done this in the past. That way, his 2017 salary would count for far less vs this years cap, than the actual dollar amount.

Collaros backs up Ray for the rest of the season! That would be something.

There's a good chance Hamilton releases him at season's end (unless they have a full managerial change). That's when I would go after him.
    Agreed, the sensible approach.

With Hamilton playing better without Collaros, I think he could be had this offseason.

That'd be good; more likely than not, Collaros' career could be rejuvenated here. In any case, more competition at the most important position.

I don't think it's "more likely than not" that Collaros would be rejuvenated; that doesn't happen very often. But he would certainly be worth looking at, since our current plan seems to be to hope that Ray stays healthy and continues to play at a high level.

Agreed. At this point there's just as much chance that Collaros turns into the next Drew Willy.

Simply conjecture on my part, and remember that "more" could be a vanishingly small value. Nevertheless, ZC is still under 30 and has demonstrated real (in fact MOP) ability not so long ago. Both of us - and apparently several teams - agree that he's worth a tryout.

I'd bring ZC back in a heartbeat. Something tells me Ray will call it a great career at season's end. I don't believe Fajardo will ever be a starter but a serviceable back up, leaving Prukop as the development guy.

A change of scenery and working with a coach like Trestman would work wonders for Collaros.
I also suspect Ray may pack it in after this season, wear and tear on the body starts to add up besides he has nothing to prove at this point in his Hall of Fame career!

I'd be good with this scenario.

    We agree.
I do not think for one minute ZC has gone from a sure thing MOP before being injured in 2015 to now being done.
Almost like the same thing that has happened to Ricky the past two years with a resurgence this year under the Trestman regime.

Ray wants to become a coach. I think he would like being a back up and slowly hand the reins over to Zac as Zac regains his confidence. I don't equate Zac to Drew Willy. We have seen here and in Hamilton what he is capable of. Bring him back.
    GO ARGOS!!!

^ Zero chance that the Ticats want to pay Zach reportedly $540k, so I'd expect Collaros to be released, especially if Manziel does end up signing in the Hammer. As mos5 around here kniw, I'd love to see Zach back in double blue, Collaros, Ray, Prukop, and Fajardo sounds like a good QB stable to me. Give Matthews the boot, not sure about Bethel Thompson.

    From the article:

"I think Zach Collaros and his representatives have enough*self-respect to say thanks for the memories Hamilton, but we’ll take our business elsewhere and it’s likely going to be 55 kilometres to the east on the QEW.”

That should add some extra animosity from Hamilton.

I'm okay with Collaros returning ..... But there is the Alouettes that will be looking for a QB ..... And my question is .... Is Collaros attitude ....yes I will accept guidance and work for my position or .... Is it I am confident in my ways and don't need the guidance ....
Only because I think his confidence helps in the QB situation but also helps to create conflict as with Austin .
Will Trestman and Brady and maybe even Ray have the respect? Or will AC have to learn to work with him .
There's no way he will go to the Rouge et Noir ... And I think the west teams are set .

At this point Collaros will have to be humble and work his way back to elite QB status, he is currently in no position to do otherwise.

Collaros has also worked with Marcus Brady in the past - in 2013 - and enjoyed much success under his tutelage.

I think he would thrive with the Argos and their staff, his salary expectations would need to be somewhat tempered though.

Sask is not set at QB (although I certainly wish that Bridge was an Argonaut).

Also, Wally B will want to bring in competition for a starting QB battle.
