GAME THREAD / Week 15 / Winning streak edition / Toronto @ Hamilton

The team has a nice chance to get some separation from Ottawa this week. True, Hamilton beat us recently, but we've been dynamite since then. We need to get on a roll going into the playoffs, and they need their coffin hammered shut so they can start concentrating on next season. Our win will be a win-win win!

Hamilton has been on a roll too since Labour Day. This will be a tough game to win.

Frank's latest article says that Gabriel should be back this week but that CVZ and Vaughn are doubtful. We can deal with Vaughn's absence in a few different ways, but Van Zeyl is trickier. I'll be very interested to see who starts at RT.

Great to have Gabriel back, though. Black has done a good job, but I assume that JG will start at safety.

According to Drew Edwards, Fantuz may be available to play on Saturday.

It sounds like starting both Gabriel and Black in the secondary isn't out of the question nor starting a National at the Z receiver position.

I would start Williams at Z, and get AK back in the secondary. I'd love to see Jamal Campbell start at RT, but have a feeling we will see Washington there.

If I had to bet, this would be the lineup configuration. Plumber has an import spot too. He was hurt last game, and that could play into the ratio with Herdman jumping into his spot as 4th LB - Run stopper

I don't see Washington starting in place of CVZ being an upgrade over Jamal Campbell. If the Argos can maintain the balanced attack that they displayed the last 2 games, then there should not be as much pressure on the graduate from York. Let's see what the kid can do.

Seriously. The upside to injuries is the opportunity to see what your backups can do. I'd certainly dress Washington, but it would be great to see Campbell start.

We moved Sanders back on the PR today. I have no idea who we'll start at field WR, but... not him. Maybe Tyms against his old team? Maybe Williams for ratio flexibility?

Maybe it is time to see what Jamal Campbell can do. But I would rather see him broke in gradually a little at a time. Washington is more of a Guard in my mind but has more experience. I would have thought Popp should have brought in another import Tackle by now, just in case. What if Will Campbell goes down. Not much depth there IMO. Most of the teams in the League are three deep at LT.

Jamal Campbell has played a ton of snaps this year as a sixth o-lineman, lining up outside the tackles. IMO he now has enough experience that he's worth trying as a replacement for CVZ. We could dress a second INT T just in case, and if JC has a tough start, replace him by taking out an INT receiver.

So we're going with two INTs at OT, with Williams getting the start at Z and Qudarius Ford in at LB in place of Vaughn. Van Zeyl has been six-gamed, which is scary. I hope Washington is up to the challenge at RT.

That's exactly what I would have done. Hopefully the depth chart is not accurate.

I was thinking going slow with Jamal Campbell being as much for his development as anything. Blocking as a TE is a different ball game IMO than being out there on an island against the best pass rushers in the game. Of course the other half of the thinking was Ricky Ray. We don't need Ricky getting blind sided when a Tracy etc. puts a move on Campbell he hasn't seen before and Ricky's ribs or shoulder pays the price. I would like to see J. Campbell start to gets some time at OT, but pick your spots and maybe make sure there is a blocking TE beside him for a while.

One thing I would love to see the Argos do, is throw a pass to Campbell. He was a basketball player before he was a football player, and my experience playing football with basketball players is that they really catch the ball well.

    Via 3downnation:
"There is one roster decision that’s less of a slam dunk: replacing running back Alex Green – who ran for 140 yards in last week’s win over B.C. – with veteran C.J. Gable. Head coach June Jones says Gable’s blocking ability was the deciding factor."

If that doesn't prove to be a bad decision I will be surprised.

Gable's injuries seem to have taken a toll on his performance so that he has never quite lived up to the promise he showed in his rookie year. After watching Green chew up yardage and BC defenders last week, I am surprised at the decision.
