The Argos' magic number is 2 for first place and 1 for a playoff spot. If the Argos defeat Saskatchewan next Saturday and Ottawa loses in B.C., the Argos can start selling tickets for the East Final at a rocking BMO Field on November 19th. Who on here thought that was a possibility last January?

Last January? I was wondering if it was possible midway threw the fourth quarter. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves with Grey Cup parade visions. Despite the heroics at the end the Argos were clearly the second best team on the field. To my untrained eye they did not look prepared and played a mediocre game because of it. They got a lot of help from both the TiCats and our friends in the Command Center. Yes, bad calls tend to even out in the long run and perhaps it was karma from the Labour Day screw job but there is no denying that T.O. got more than their fair share of breaks yesterday. Let's keep it in perspective because there is a lot of work still to be done before being considered as legitimate contenders. We'll see in the next four weeks if they are or not.

I must admit, I do take pleasure reading that Hamilton fans are livid about the officiating. How soon they forget about Labour Day!!!!

My son and I sat on the Go train with Dave Foxcroft before a game last season and I asked him why receivers look offside on almost every play.
He said as long as the receivers back foot is on the ground the rest of their body can be over the line of scrimmage.

Foxcroft is a good guy. Both an Argos and Ti-Cats season ticket holder. Always texts me when he's at the game as a spectator. We go back to my wrestling days. When I did a local show in Hamilton, he was the ring announcer, and his brother Steve and Bubba O'Neil were the TV announcers. He's also been a part of the CFL/NFL officials exchange each of the last 2 years. I believe an NFL officials job is in his future.

It was the 2016 pre season game at BMO against Hamilton when Eric and I were on the train with him, he was involved at the time with the NFL officiating co-op program.
He is indeed a very nice guy but I joked with him about still booing him when he makes a bad call.

I guess Drew Edwards is not happy after yesterday's loss. Kinda pathetic to see. I don't remember Landry and Hogan being like this after the LDC game.

Many Cats' fans claim the offside, but they were not. I watched the replay minutes ago many times, stopping it exactly when the ball moves. All players are clearly onside, demonstrating perfectly timed routes. They are really grasping at straws to cope with the loss, which was more about not protecting a 14 point lead than Refs screwing them.

There have been many occasions where, live, I thought that receivers were offside until I went back on my PVR and slowed it down and found out that they were not. The much-maligned officials get this call right 99.5% of the time IMO.

IMO it's hard to argue with his assessment. The flag on Washington was a bad call by the refs (IMO), Cross did fumble (IMO), and the "non offside" looked offside to me. In saying that I think 1 out of every 3 snaps is offside, and they're rarely called, so I've always wondered about that. Also, I like to know how many missed calls went the Ticats way, as bad as the CFL refs are, things usually balance out eventually.

Yeah, I think "things usually balance out eventually" is the only reasonable attitude. The CFL should do the best it can, but even throwing a lot of money at the problem - which isn't in the cards - wouldn't resolve it entirely.

People can complain all they like (what else is the internet for?) but in the end you have to just shrug.

(Oh, and CFL officiating conspiracy theories have about as much merit as any other conspiracy theory. Approximately none.)

They all forget the Labour Day debacle in Hamilton, fans of all CFL teams have a legitimate gripe which in itself is bad for the league!!
Admittedly I am still basking in the glow of last nights comeback!

I don't think it looks bad on the league. Fans for every team in every league at some point will blame a loss here and there on officiating. It goes with the territory.

I suspect that officiating has always been bad. But new rules, HD broadcasts, slow motion and multiple angles have for the first time in history exposed this. No one ever complained about the refs on radio or on those tv shots that were in B&W, grainy and from a distance. 4K TV has its downsides.

I can't say what happened in the black-and-white era but people were complaining about refs long before HD TV. For instance, 1981 Grey Cup and 1983 Eastern Final.

I often entertain myself by reading in game comments the next day. I never come on here during or just after the game.
