    Awards 2017

This has been a fun team to watch this season and I'm happy that they got recognized around the league!

My prediction is that Wilder and Trestman win with Ray coming in a close second. Not sure about McEwen.

McEwen wins for fun. One penalty all-season.

Can’t see wilder or Trestman losing, Ricky vs. Reilly is a toss-up, I’m obviously biased and in Ray’s camp.

In the National Post today the predictions were all the western nods except for Wilder, for what it’s worth.

I can't see how the Stamps started to slump near the end will give DD an advantage over Trestman, who turned his team around from worst to first. And that's why I think Jones' should've represented the West. All Reilly really has over Ray is his rushing ability. Reilly even got benched a few times IIRC.

Reilly had 12 rushing TD's...I sense he takes MOP.

Reilly lead the league in passing yards, tied for 1st with Harris for passing TD's, lead the league in rushing TD's, 1st in yards per attempt, and lead his team to a 12-6 record, compared to Ray's lead 9-9 Argos..

Yeah, Ray is more deserving of the MOP..................... /sarcasm.

It is what it is and maybe Reilly is more deserving but let’s not drag that awful stat of QB “wins” into it.

Oh yes....also had it not been for that bogus PI call against SJ Green in week 15, Hamilton would have finished 1st in the East.

Reilly will win, and deserves to win based on the year he had. But that takes nothing away from Ricky Ray, who also had a fantastic season. Some members of this forum completely wrote him off last year (and in 2015, 2014, even 2013 IIRC) as well as in the off-season (both before and after Trestman was hired and declared RR the starter). And yet here he is in the conversation for MOP, after passing for more than 300 yards a game, 27 TDs, 70% completion etc.

How can Ray possibly win? He was old and washed up back when Collaros left. Speaking of which does anyone know how Collaros has been doing lately?

It is quite interesting to go back and read the "what are your honest expectations of this team" thread from the off-season.

Another one who seems way too interested in me. Aren't I on your ignored list ?

I don't see a clear-cut winner between Reilly and Ray. You can also throw in Nichols and Harris. Their stats were just as good.

As for Reilly's rushing TDs, something smell fishy. There's no way I'd keep my starter in on every short yardage situation the way the Esks did this year. It's as if they wanted to minimize Franklin's stats to make it easier to re-sign him.

I envision that Wilder and Trestman (perhaps Spencer) will be the only winners from the east.

Is Spencer really a ST ace in the East? Jackson is a better overall returner and got hosed with that one. Spencer gets touches but I dunno if he's really a great returner, deserving an award.

I wouldn't say Spencer was wholly undeserving of the award.

I think Finch wins the award unanimously, but Spencer had a decent season I suppose. About the same as Jackson's, although Spencer had less drops/fumbles.

TBH, I'm just glad that Paredes wasn't up for that award. IMO his efficiency ratings is considerably overrated, as Calgary's offense does a good job of getting him closer than some other teams do.
