New Houston Rockets Owner wants an NHL team ?

Houston is a bigger market than Seattle (#$ compared to #10), and their arena doesn't need renovations, so does Houston become the new favourite ?
Not sure if it would work in Houston, but I'm more skeptical of Seattle TBH. Milwaukee's got a new arena coming, but they would need an ownership group interested there. Quebec seems more likely for relocation at this point, but that may be a ways away.

If they want to cap at 32, do they take Seattle and leave Houston out or v.v? Do they expand to both, leaving a spot in the east for Quebec.

Other option in my view could be to move the Coyotes to Houston if they can't get their arena situation figured out, plus there's concern that Barroway may not have enough $$ to finish the season. Move them there, in the central to even it out with 8 and then expand to Seattle.

Board of governors meeting is next month.....should be some fun times!

32 is the magic number right now it would seem, after that who knows. Some troubling markets in the East as well with Florida, Carolina, Islanders (depending on if they get their new arena).

Bettman and Rockets discuss the viability of an NHL team in Houston.

Part that jumped out to me.

Bettman declined to comment on the meeting to Strang, but did say that the league is not relocating any clubs right now.
No mention of 'not expanding' either.

I think there's a team with money issues and a year to year lease that would slide in nicely....and open up a spot in the Pacific for Seattle

Gotta to figure something eventually has to give with either Florida, Carolina and/or Arizona.
