The 1991 championship team and season made me a fan. Even though the next few years were not good, I stuck with the team and eventually 5 more Grey Cup seasons have come and been great to be a part of. Win while you can and get more new fans onboard for next season.

Far better to win the Cup, people want to be associated with Champions.
"Nothing succeeds like success" is very true & MLSE boss Larry Tanenbaum is for sure very happy to get his Championship team. Marketing of this win will be much more than after 2012 when David Braley did very little to capitalize. Having a close exciting classic Grey Cup win in the snow with huge tv viewership was great fun & will be remembered forever - adding to the relevance of the team & league in Toronto & elsewhere (U.S. included).
    • Being successful opens up new opportunities
    • Success gets us known, and this can encourage others to help us to succeed even further.
    • Success gives us confidence and shows us the way to future success.

For those who earlier were saying it would be better long term for the Argos, my response was this would put the team one more playoff loss away from being called chokers or a poor team, whether deserved or not. Furthermore, this is exactly what is happening in Calgary now. Yes I get that part of this Calgary was expected to win, but with so much of the media being apathetic or even anti-Argo in Toronto, the response would be either they choked if they lost to a weaker team in the playoffs in the future or they are a very weak team, demonstrating the CFL playoffs are a joke.

choke: to lose one’s composure and fail to perform effectively in a critical situation.
(i.e. He had a chance to win the game but he choked)
    — Merriam-Webster dictionary

It is, quite simply, the Stampeders way. Dominate during the regular season, then choke in the Grey Cup.

Call Sunday’s 27-24 loss to a wildly outplayed Toronto team a meltdown or an implosion, if you want to be kind.
If you want to be honest, call it a choke. Few franchises in pro sports are better at it than the Calgary Stampeders.

Better if we'd lost - that's Crazy talk!!
At a time when we need to give fans a reason to come out - coming to see a championship team is exactly what we needed!

The Argos have received so much run in the media this week it should put to rest any debate that losing the Cup might have been better in any way. I was reluctant to chime in before the game because I didn't even want to consider the possibility. 17 sounds like a nice number (for now).

Time to start working on building the fan base, as well as extending players and signing free agents in February to bring us #18 in 18.

This win is sure getting a lot of media exposure. Especially down South.

I'll say that I was one of those who thought it might be better if the Argos lost. I will say this, that I don't think any of us could predict the amount of goodwill that has come out of it. I don't know if that was there in the previous wins. There just seems to be this slight shift in perception that the Argos have been accepted for what they are and not what they once were 40 years ago and not what they are compared to the other major league teams. The critics and naysayers don't seem to be hovering around.

In the past with the CFL you always seemed to wait for them to shoot themselves in the foot whenever a big opportunity came along. This hasn't happened but this will all go for naught if the goodwill isn't capitalized on and more season tickets and seats are sold. If they can get up to an average of 20k this year that will be a great improvement and a big step towards righting the ship.

Love it. Funny, for all our talk about Toronto media types looking down on the team, Americans commentators seem perfectly able to take the CFL seriously.

I'm on here because of the win. Well that and all the fun I've been having watching the CFL over the last 5 years. The 100th Grey Cup got it started but the win in Ottawa put me over the top and I got season tickets. I've been a big Jays all my life and really late to the CFL growing up in a Bills house down in Welland, Ont. Being in the GTA makes it way easier to get to the games, and the level of play isridiculous. This year we went to Edmonton game and watched a 115 yard field goal return. I should have gotten the tickets that night!
