The Beltre signing is official, and we also picked up DB Anthony Covington (link).

I wonder if any of these guys will make the roster? - 3 LBs competing for further "depth" behind last year's picks Herdman & Onyeka. Maybe they can carry 3 NI linebackers if they are all good special teamers ?

Gingras-Gagnon was hardly a feature player in Laval's offence - will he be competing to be the #2 H-back behind Cross, and couldn't Brian Jones do that job if need be? Was Cibasu drafted to be a depth H-back too - for a part-time position?

Nice that we're giving Watman a chance to sign elsewhere. Also nice that we apparently don't need him any more.

With both Deane and Watman moving on, it really appears as if Campbell, Sackey and Kowlankowski are expected to contribute more in the 2018 campaign .

It does indeed. I'm curious to see whether we add Tyler Johnstone to the mix in the supplemental draft.

I doubt we will get the chance to take him. Someone will bid a first-rounder on him.

If Popp wants him he has the hammer. The supplemental draft goes in reverse order from what I have read about it.

My understanding is that priority in the supplemental draft is by reverse waiver priority order. If we want him enough to offer our 2019 first round pick he should be ours.

IMO Campbell and Kolankowski are both ready to play, and one or both could step in in the event of injury to a starter. Sackey is a mystery but it would sure be nice if he stepped up to a roster spot this season, after two years developing on the PR. Watman was a backup at best, and an aging one at that -- more useful at this point than Dyakowski. but less useful than Deane would have been had he not retired.

Note that recently signed DT Evan Gill is now listed at O-line, wearing an Oline number.
Maybe was told he could extend his career - especially health wise - at the new position.

I noticed that too. Thought maybe it was a misprint and was waiting for some of the "Double Blue Room Scouts" at TC to confirm.

I had read about this last week--wasn't looking out for him yesterday though.

Total joke IMO - a DT with zero O-line experience converted to O-line by typical GOBs; give him a look at DT where he belongs; Popp coulda drafted 3 time AUS all-star O-lineman
Jacob Czaja in the later rounds (instead of thinking about back-up LBs or long-snappers) - Ottawa was able to draft him; the chances of Gill being a better O-line prospect are slim to none. IMO

Warning: if you see a DB patrolling the BC secondary this season with the name Orange on his shirt and he looks familiar, it's because he is. It's former Argo AJ Jefferson, who has changed his surname to Orange, not because he plays for a team that wears orange, but because the rest of his family is named Orange.

Ah - so bidding is by reverse waiver priority but bids are weighted by waiver priority order. That makes more sense, honestly. The idea that the GC winner would have top priority seemed strange.

Given the rules, if Johnstone is as good a prospect as he's touted to be, there is not much downside in bidding a first-rounder. We probably won't get him, but we would force whoever does to forfeit their first-rounder next year, meaning a slightly better pick for us.
