Nice that we're giving Watman a chance to sign elsewhere. Also nice that we apparently don't need him any more.

With both Deane and Watman moving on, it really appears as if Campbell, Sackey and Kowlankowski are expected to contribute more in the 2018 campaign .

It does indeed. I'm curious to see whether we add Tyler Johnstone to the mix in the supplemental draft.

IMO Campbell and Kolankowski are both ready to play, and one or both could step in in the event of injury to a starter. Sackey is a mystery but it would sure be nice if he stepped up to a roster spot this season, after two years developing on the PR. Watman was a backup at best, and an aging one at that -- more useful at this point than Dyakowski. but less useful than Deane would have been had he not retired.

I doubt we will get the chance to take him. Someone will bid a first-rounder on him.

If Popp wants him he has the hammer. The supplemental draft goes in reverse order from what I have read about it.

My understanding is that priority in the supplemental draft is by reverse waiver priority order. If we want him enough to offer our 2019 first round pick he should be ours.

After reading that "reverse waiver priority order" again they say if the Grey Cup Champs bid a 1st round for a player, another team can match by bidding the same. Doesn't make sense then to have the reverse order if say Montreal bids a 1st round after the Argos do and gains the pick. Why have the reverse order. I had under stood if the Argos, having the first pick in this years supplemental draft, used their 2019 #1 pick that was the end of the draft for player X. Some CFL rules are always a little strange.

Warning: if you see a DB patrolling the BC secondary this season with the name Orange on his shirt and he looks familiar, it's because he is. It's former Argo AJ Jefferson, who has changed his surname to Orange, not because he plays for a team that wears orange, but because the rest of his family is named Orange.

Yup, I'm confused now too, given the example they cite (I didn't originally read past "reverse waiver priority order"!)

If waiver priority order is "based on the finish order from the previous season with the Grey Cup Champion having the least priority and the other club competing in the Grey Cup game have second least priority with the remaining teams ordered by their reverse order of finish", then shouldn't *reverse* priority order mean that the GC Camp has top priority? I originally thought that was quite clear.

I wonder if any of these guys will make the roster? - 3 LBs competing for further "depth" behind last year's picks Herdman & Onyeka. Maybe they can carry 3 NI linebackers if they are all good special teamers ?

Gingras-Gagnon was hardly a feature player in Laval's offence - will he be competing to be the #2 H-back behind Cross, and couldn't Brian Jones do that job if need be? Was Cibasu drafted to be a depth H-back too - for a part-time position?

The rules as written make sense. Argos, as Grey Cup champs, are entitled to the worst pick. In the case of a supplemental draft, that means first bid. Whatever they bid, any of the remaining teams can outbid them. So if they bid a first-rounder, someone else's first-rounder -- worth more in the current priority order -- would trump their bid. Which means there is virtually no chance of landing Johnstone if he's as good as he's reputed to be. It's conceivable that every team bids their first-rounder, in which case Montreal would get him.

Ah - so bidding is by reverse waiver priority but bids are weighted by waiver priority order. That makes more sense, honestly. The idea that the GC winner would have top priority seemed strange.
