As to this promo which is no more. It was for 2 games only. When employees are saying speak to a rep about going with a different date, that was in context of a substitution so unless someone wants to create multiple Ticketmaster accounts with different phone numbers and emails, no one can buy a whole season at yesterday's sale.

Saying that, I do agree that there are other ways the team can give single game incentives like $5-10 child pricing which requires adults to pay the full fare.
The ticats do numerous flash/one-day sales during the season every season.

So what this tells me is that even with the tarping off of sections and 50% off additional tickets for season ticket holders they're having a difficult time selling tickets to the home opener. I bought one of the Argonauts gift packs last Christmas and that included tickets to the home opener too.

I know it's not always a great source but there seem to be very few left on Ticketmaster. But then again they seem to block inventory to make people think "oh crap it's almost sold out" and get the fence-sitters to commit. If the map is accurate the lower bowl is pretty much sold out and the upper west is probably 3/4 full. But then again sometimes you see the map look full and the game is nowhere near full. All I know is I have my ticket and I'm in the fan zone so I hope it's rocking there at least

They do the same thing in BC.

Sections 106 through 109 are the lower deck seats in the East that feature most prominently on tv. As has been discussed many times, they are usually empty. This is terrible advertising for the team, so any attempt to fill those seats and boost the image of the team is fine by me. At this point, they need the advertising that full seats bring to the casual fan. Are there more people in the stadium? Not necessarily. Is the upper decked closed off? Maybe. But to survive, the team needs to attract new and currently casual fans, those who may watch a bit of a game on tv (or their tablet/phone) or catch the highlights. Most camera angles only capture the lower deck on the east side, so these seats must be filled to sell an Argo game at BMO as the place to be.

I'm skeptical that there are anywhere close to that few many seats remaining. They'll release some overnight. Yes, I've been watching and tickets do seem to be moving at a decent pace.

Past couple of days, I've noticed that there are no lead in priced tickets (19.00) and platinum (67.00) tickets available online. Just singles. Why wouldn't the team put about a dozen or so in each category available as well? Can't see both categories sold out already.

I assume everything that isn't tarped off has to be sold and a ass in the seat to be a sell out.

Yes but how many seats are available to sell now with the tarped off sections?

The @TorontoArgos will close off the upper east side of BMO field, creating a capacity of just under 20k, including suites. Idea is to create better football atmosphere. #CFL #Argos

Just to be accurate, there are NO tarped off sections.
Seats in the upper deck on the east side will not be sold, but they will be visible as empty seats/sections.

Not sure it creates a good TV image, when the camera shows all those empty seats in the upper section of the east side. They may try to avoid doing so but with punts and some passes it will be impossible.

Your are correct, there is no "tarp" big enough to cover the entire upper deck and they would have to install it before and after every game.
In BC they have the tarp permanently in place for both the Lions and the Whtecaps.

    Last week plenty of seats available for $19, this week the same seats are $24 Sections - 104, 105, 110, 111, 119, 127, 220, 221, 225, 226
The rest of the tickets $31 & the most expensive at $48
Pretty good deal considering that the most expensive tickets would be the cheapest available in Hamilton or Ottawa.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Argos aren't "tarping" the seats necessarily, they just aren't selling them. If they tarp the seats they cannot be sold even if the rest of the stadium is completely sold out. If they simply don't sell the upper seats they can open them up if everything else is full. I know in the NFL and MLB once a team tarps a section it cannot be sold for the whole season even if demand warrants it.

The tickets have to be sold but not necessarily an ass in the seat. The Leafs sell out every game but there are always plenty of empty seats. Also I believe if only singles are left it's a sellout since singles are extremely hard to get rid of
