CFL Commissioner - Randy Ambrosie's Fan Tour

Just received an email from Argonauts Client Services announcing the above event to be held at BMO Field, BMO Club on Monday February 5th. I have already RSVP'd to go, and thought a thread about questions to ask the Commissioner would be interesting to get everyone's input.

To start things off, I would be interested in asking the following:
    • How realistic is it to talk about expansion to the Maritimes, when there is no facility currently available or on the horizon that would accommodate a CFL team?
    • If expansion does take place, what are the Commissioner's thoughts on the existing ratio of National to International players? Do we have enough CIS talent to fill the gap? Would there be any thought to altering the ratios?
    • What is status of changing the ratio rules for Canadian QB's?
    • Instead of raising the salary cap, would the league ever consider paying it's players in US $, as all other professional sports league in North America do? (I admit this is controversial, but when I volunteered at the 104th Grey Cup as a driver, one of the players (a pretty big star in the league) brought it up and I thought the idea was worth discussing)

    good questions.

I had call in to the Argos to resub to be able to sign up to go to this as it is for season ticket holders only.

How would this change anything - unless players think they'd be paid, say, US$60,000 instead of Can$60,000.

I believe that is what the player that brought this up was getting at. At least then they can equate what they would be paid in the US with what they are making here.

Good initiative by the commissioner. I wonder if Manning will be there too.

I won't be able to make it so hope someone can do some good notes here!

    - Raise the cap
    - Either go to a 40 or 50 man roster, no reserve roster
    - Taking QB's out of the SMS
    - Expansion
    - How the League is planning to bring fans back to watching on tv and in stadium.
    - 20 second rolling play clock (NFL has a 40 second rolling clock and they average more plays per game then we do)
    - Eliminate the expanded replay. Coaches challenge only for OPI and DPI. Automatic review for socring points, turnovers, and in and out of bounds.
    - Ask him if Glen Johnson left on his own or was booted out, and thank Ambrosie either way lol.

    - Can the league arrange to have all nine team presidents for an ask the president session during Mark's CFL Week in March.
    - Can We have an expected timeline for when the league will implement Revenue Sharing? 2019?
    - What is the CFL's strategy when the NFL expands it's roster/practice roster size/adds teams in expansion in 2022? US combines/centralized scouting?
    - What is the league's strategy when the NFL goes to a 18 game/22 week season(August kickoff) in 2022? How does this affect the proposed mid-Oct Grey Cup plan? Does the CFL go to an April start w/a mid-September Grey Cup?
    - How does the league get corporate Canada on board?
    - What is the Broadcast strategy in 2021?

    - Expansion - What is the strategy to get Quebec City a team? Can Larry Smith(on behalf of the CFL) talk to Karl Peladeau(Quebecor) to pressure Jacques Tanguay to get on board?
    - Expansion - What is the strategy to Saskatoon a team? Can we see Craig Reynolds(on behalf of the Roughriders BoD) publicly declare they will not prevent a team in toontown?

I guess it'd be too much to ask them to get of Twitter for 5 minutes and manually accurate the fx rate on their own?

Registrations for Argos Commissioners Town Hall were confirmed today as Michael Hook assured us they would be.

Nice to see Mike Hogan as the evening moderator. Looking forward to talking football in mid winter.

Argos were clear that this is NOT the Argos Fan Town Hall. I wonder when that event will take place. I understand that they'll hold another locker sale at the Town Hall.

I expect that the team town hall would be when it usually happens, in late April or early May.

For any of the folks who were fortunate to attend the Town Hall this evening - a detailed recap of the event would be most appreciated for us less fortunate fans.

Seems as newly resigned SJ Green was at the event.

    Thanks in advance.
