Photographer johany jutras missing in action?

A highlight of the last couple CFL seasons was the sideline "art" provided by Johany Jutras. In 2015(?) she sold everything she had to fund a cross Canada tour capturing key moments in the CFL season. She published these moments in the book Our League Our Country. That success was followed by a contract to cover the CFL. Last year she traveled with the Argos. As a member of the 2017 team, she attended and captured the Grey Cup ring presentation.

After what seemed a successful relationship seemed to abruptly end with Johany gone from the scene. I'll certainly miss her art. I understood her services were provided at a very reasonable rate.

Also, the players, coaches and staff loved how she captured the moments in such a personal manner.

    She'll be missed.

does her disappearance have anything to do with the purchase of the team by mlse ?

Has everything to do with it. Her contract wasn’t renewed.

Yeah, it's ridiculous that she wasn't retained. She did a fantastic job and when you have good people working for you, it is imperative to keep them as long as you can.

She’s just a photographer....and not even based out of Toronto. Who paid for her flights?

It be too bad, but her different outlook of football should land somewhere. Maybe the Patriots is Seahawks could afford her.

She’s based in Quebec, but technology makes it easy for her to travel.

Video is video, but NFL Films made the NFL what it is today. In 1962 they used high speed, multi camera colour film. Kept everything. The CFL was black and white and regulate camera through the 1970s and pitched out everything.

Having said that, it was unusual to have Johany’s art captured by the Argos.

Just another benefit removed from the shelf. I guess we got Niija Turtles instead.

    1) Who was paying for the travel?
    2) She was just a photographer and not NFL Films. Photos that really have no impact on anything but for articles, to be honest.

There are 99 problems with the Argos on and off the field, and this ain’t one of them.

What’s the hang up over travel costs? The team move 90 people a game. We’re talking 1% additional cost.

Clearly you didn’t author the best seller “In Search of Excellence.” ala Tom Peters. Her cost is considered a marketing cost. Not obvious to me where this cost savings was applied.

I’m adding up a lot of savings from tailgate, marketing, part time sales staff. Add to the dismal ticket sales, it looks like the transition year is like all the others. Will we soon be talking about the Braley years nostalgically?

Thirty years of bumbling from fiasco to fiasco.

Not choosing to pay for a photographer is probably the least of concerns. Sorry, it’s not a huge loss.

Thank you for these contributions guys. You do realize that the purpose of ‘threads’ are to separate interests so that you can focus on yours, or as you so aptly demonstrate - troll others interests.

I consider Johany Jutras book ‘Our League our Country’ an outstanding contribution to CFL/Argos lore. Apart from your frequent rants, what lasting impact have you made to the League or team.

The Argonauts may have released Johany Jutras, but they hired Kate Pettersen and Mike Hogan.

I believe that Kate and Mike's frequent reports and updates each week on various online platforms far outweighs the contributions that Johany could have made with photos in promoting the Argonauts.
If there was a budget issue in terms of cost/benefit, I believe that the Argonauts made a good decision here.

PullTogether73, now that's constructive criticism. I don't agree, but that's why God gave us individual opinions.

Oh, I have a lot of respect for Ms. Jutras' professional skills and passion for the CFL, don't get me wrong.
But if there was indeed a budget issue here, well, I said it above.

Who did Kate work for last year when she was doing a similar thing? Not as frequent obviously but I thought she said she's been with the Argos for four years but I could have misconstrued that comment from her. I don't recall myself.

I think she was with TSN 1050 at one point. I don't know when she became a part of the Argos organization outright.
