    Martese Jackson traded to Edmonton

    https://www.tsn.ca/argos-trade-rb-ja...imos-1.1170881

    Plus a 6th rounder in 2020.

Argos get a 3rd round pick in 2019.

I've always felt he was high risk and reward in returns this year.

Does this mean Carter will handle this role moving forward?

Mods: feel free to merge this in the transaction thread.

McCluster will be returning to the lineup and I think Burks can come off 6 game soon

Yeah, McCluster is almost ready. Not to mention Burks, Alford, Roberson, Washington, White and Carter can also return kicks if need be. It's been a bit of a roller coaster with Jackson.

Not a trade that I saw coming. This team has several issues to say the least, but I did not feel the "Maltese Falcon" was one of them. Alford did have a decent game in Guelph which probably earned him his PR spot initially. Perhaps McCluster will finally be ready to suit up. Hate to see guys who produce and have been on the team a while get jettisoned out of town.

The Argo D would actually have to stop somebody for Jackson to return a punt.

This season is starting to stink. I don't like the move. Let's see McCluster play before we do something like this.

Good move by the Esks to fill an area of need - they haven't had an even half-way dangerous return guy in years now, IMO.

3rd rounder is nice for the Argos; not confident Popp can do much with it though.

Martese was one of the few bright spots on the Argos IMO. I don't think we got anything near the same value in return.

You don't see a lot of blockbuster trades or even player for player trades in this league anymore, especially as you get later into the season. Jackson is likely a free agent at season's end so you can't expect a huge return for him. I think that the Argos did well to add another early draft pick.

Well I guess this signals the remodel.

I am not a fan of taking production OFF the field. He was one of this teams only weapons this season. We saw Lemon get traded and it did nothing to help this team in the standings. I have always sensed a lack of trust from the coaching staff towards Jackson, but I guess he earned that. It's just that you've got to allow it to be earned back.

Great pickup by Edmonton. It seems to go that way with franchises that are in the winning mode. And it's losing teams that always find a way to fumble.

For those who think there is no value in draft picks; well if a serviceable roster player (and potential game breaker) like Martese Jackson only gets you a 3rd Round pick, then what is a 1st worth?

CFL GM's know the essential value of the CFL Draft.

Sad to see him go, but they obviously like McCluster and Alford as return guys, and probably feel they can add more on offence than Martese could. With his lack of size, he isn't an easy target to hit as a receiver, but overall, I don't like this move.

I saw this coming long ago when McCluster was signed and Jackson was doing nothing to start the season. It was only after McCluster got injured that Jackson started contributing some good returns. Let's just hope the new guy can do what he did in the NFL.

Argos do have some depth as returners on the roster. Carter and McCluster will probably be the next men up. Martese didn't exactly give me a lot of confidence when I saw him waiting for a punt to come down, especially deep in his own end. We will see what happens. A 3rd rounder has been a better pick than the first two lately for both Barker and Popp. Probably because they flip a coin instead of trying to over analyze for the top two picks. lol
