    Franklin taking first team reps

    According to Matthew Scianitti.

I for one am happy to hear about this.

I'm happy too. Let's finish strong and get ready for next year with Franklin as the undisputed #1.

While I do think Franklin should have at least gone back in as the starter in the Labour Day Rematch; I just want to see him with the full offense and playbook right now. He should have been developing this season, and it'll be interesting to see if Trestman leaves or losses his job because of his handling of Franklin. Carter too for that matter. When healthy, I'd like to see Prukop handling the short yardage offence.

I would keep the short yardage with Franklin even as the starter. I don't get why teams went away from having the starting QB do short yardage plays anyway. Over the years, I would be surprised of any serious injuries coming to QB's on sneak plays, and I would bet that a lot more poor exchanges have happened with a back ups in there. Besides, after a slow start on the sneaks, in which he went directly behind the centre and upright, Franklin is as good as anyone in the league at it.

You're missing one key factor Angelo - I want to see Prukop on the field lol.

Franklin has been good at short yardage. But Coaches don't like the idea of their starting QB taking shots on those QB sneaks. Depends on the QB I guess. Wouldn't want to see Ricky Ray, Lulay or Collaros doing it if I was the Coach. But if I had Mike Reilly or Franklin maybe. Prukop seems like a hard nosed kid so it could be the next step in his development.

Can't see MBT doing the short yardage thing, so bring on Prukop! Actually, he has put in his time and deserves a shot, doesn't he?

Hamilton has a good defence, this will be a good test for Franklin.

I really don't see the Argos making a chance in their short yardage offence at this point in the season. Franklin will likely just keep doing it for the rest of the season. We don't even know when Prukop will be healthy enough to return to the lineup.

I am thinking the Alouettes with Adrian McPherson and Trestman would have been there. It seems to me that this has only happened within the last decade.

In the 80's BC would bring in Tim Cowan for short yardage QB sneaks, but I think it was more because Roy Dewalt had developed bad knees. Ravi may be right on the recent trend with MacPherson replacing AC.

Here's an excellent analysis of Franklin's play earlier this season, and some great reasons to get excited about watching him play for the rest of it.

Sounds like Franklin should start the rest of the way, but Trestman isn't ruling out going back to Thompson or even putting Prukop in there.

Prukop is coming off a leg injury but, as head coach Marc Trestman revealed on Thursday, there’s a chance he will get out on the field at some point.

“We’ve got things that are available for him,’’ said Trestman. “I’m certainly looking forward to seeing him in (next year’s) training camp as well. It’s not out of the question (that Prukop lines up under centre in the remaining few games). He’s a great teammate, he works very hard and he’s diligent in the quarterbacks’ meeting room. He knows everything that’s going on offensively. And that time could come.”
Trestman is clearly messing with me lol.

Prukop was going to run at least one play two or three games ago, but someone wasn't on the field who was supposed to be and they either took a penalty or had to burn a time-out, forcing an end to that plan. I imagine it will be resurrected at some point.
