There is suppose to be a record number of free agents across the League this year. I read where Hamilton has 30 some free agents.
I guess one could count all the first year Argos as being under contract going into their option year. I believe there are a few vets in multi year contracts, such as Van Zeyl, Holmes, Wilder, Coombs and Laing. Gabriel,? McEwen,? Bomben.? don't know for sure. Have to get your Canadian starters signed and go from there. The starting QB Franklin is on the second year of his contract. MBT is a FA, don't know about Prukop.
I imagine every team has at least 30 FAs. The advent of one-year contracts has made this inevitable.

Here's a background article on Holsey:

The Argos have extended Nationals DL Hassan Barry and DL John Biewold.
https://www.argonauts.ca/2018/12/06/...-hassan-barry/Barry, 22, originally signed with the Double Blue on May 16, 2018 and played in one game this season. The 6’0, 311-pound product of McMaster spent four years playing for the Mauraders where he piled up 55 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 25 games.
Biewald, 24, signed as a free agent with Toronto in February of this year. The former Western Mustang played in five games in 2018, primarily on special teams and recorded no stats. The 6’4, 225-pound DL originally signed as a free agent with Ottawa in June of 2016 but was released shortly thereafter. Biewald was re-signed by the RedBlacks in December of 2016 and released the following June. He returned to Western for his final year of eligibility and capped off five seasons in purple by racking up 64.5 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles in 30 games.
The Argos have extended another four players. Three of them are signed through 2020: National five year veteran LS Jake Reinhart, National DB Matt Webster who spent the last two years with the Argos during which he had he 16 DT and 15 ST tackles as well as a forced fumble, after three years with the Riders, and International DB Caleb Ham, who was on the PR twice last year and is the son of former Argo Tracy Ham. National LB Mathieu Loiselle, who was a 2018 seventh round draft pick, has signed through 2019 after playing only one game last year due to injuries.
Zach Mederios has been signed! The best kicker of the 3 we had last year so I'm glad they've locked him back up!
The Argos have also signed International WR Cole Watson through 2020. He attended Argos TC the last two years. During the preseasons, he caught seven passes for 64 yards in two games in 2017 and 3 passes for 52 yards in one game in 2018. He also returned punts in college.
They obviously like Watson enough to keep bring him back for a look, but he cannot stick for whatever reason. The 1st year receivers in 2018 sure didn't show anything. He's put up decent numbers in the preseason games (doesn't mean anything I know), and I'd like to see him stick for once.

Watson looks like the typical Canadian receiver that will be in the league for many years,,, but he’s American.
The Argos have signed National LB Nakas Onyeka. While he played in 17 games in 2017 with 14 ST tackles, he was injured in the second game of 2018 and missed the rest of the season.
The Riders have released former Argo Kenny Shaw who had a 1,000 yard season with the Argos in 2016, before signing as a free agent with Ottawa where injuries limited him to three games in 2017. After being released by Ottawa in April, he was on the Riders PR, getting into three games where he had 11 receptions for 153 yards. He could be worth bringing to TC.
