The specifics will be important. Does this mean that QB is eliminated as a separate roster category, and if so, are more than 20 INTs now allowed?

If you want to play an extra American, you can throw a Canadian kid as your third string, is what I am seeing. I see good and bad scenarios. That was my previous point with CBA negotiations, you give up something to gain. Developing a CDN there does make sense at this time.
And what if you have three NAT QBs on your active roster? Eighteen other NATs and 23 INTs? How many designated INTs in the various scenarios? That's why we need to see all the details. Regardless, this leaves me expecting at least one NAT QB on our game roster, and a second kept around as well.

I am guessing the new CBA will stipulate no fewer than seven NAT starters on offence/defence and no more than 17 INT starters. So if a team starts a NAT QB, it can start 17 INTs playing elsewhere, but if the NAT QB came out and was replaced by an INT, one of the other INT starters has to sit. Can't wait for details of how this will work.

I'm going to be the pessimist and predict that the only change will be that NATs on the QB roster will now count towards the minimum 21 NAT requirement. That wouldn't affect anything, unless a team decided to dress fewer than 44 players to save money. This sort of merely cosmetic rule change wouldn't disadvantage anyone (i.e. everyone but the Argos).
Wobbler, if NAT QBs count as part of the 21 NATs, that would increase the number of backup INTs by one. Not a huge change, but a change nonetheless, no? Or am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure it's a Canadian QB starter.
Up until now if Bridge had been the starter then the Argos could start Bridge plus 7 starters, now if Bridge becomes the starter then the Argos can start 6 Nationals and one extra International. Having a Canadian QB is really no advantage for Canadians but allows an extra International.
Compared to what I regard as the logical option - deleting the QB category and raising the INT count to 23 - I find it to be a pretty minor change.
Until we see the final draft of the agreement, there appear to be a number of unanswered questions, especially around Canadian QB's.
Present rules: a)Max of 44 players, b)3 QB's either NATS or INTS, c)Min # of NATs is 21, d)Max # of INT's is 20
The following has been reported (true?)
The Max will go to 45 by adding 1 Global player. The QB rule is no longer in play. The Max # of INT's remains at 20. Therefore if a team signs a NAT QB to the roster, the minimum number of NATS goes to 22.
Anyway, that is the best that I can figure out.
Another question--3 INT starters must have played 3 years for team or 4 years in league --but is that prior to the season or does that include the present playing year?
If there is an additional Global player added to the roster, there would appear to be the need for at least one Global backup in case of injury. Will the practice roster be increased to take this into account?
Question, question, questions---we will have to wait to see the details of the agreement before all questions will be addressed.
As we become more aware of the details of the agreement, some issues become slightly clearer
What we no know (hopefully):
. Active roster will be 45--a) Min# of NATs is 21, b)Max # of INTS is 20, c)3 QB's either NATs or INTs, d) 1 Global
.Starting player ratio remains at 7 NATs and 17 INTs
.If a NAT QB starts, it counts as one of those starting 7 NATs, so 6 NATs in other positions as starters
.An injured NAT starter can replaced by a veteran INT (3 consecutive years with team or 4 years in league)
Questions not readily answered:
.If a Global player starts (highly unlikely I realize), does that player count against the 7 NATs or 17 INTs?
.Can an injured NAT be replaced by a veteran INT, only in the game or anytime on game day (injured in warm up)?
.Teams sit 2 players each game. Could that include the Global player or must he play in game?
I'm sure others have some questions but the above are those that sprang to mind.
