Agreed - i thought he looked very good - a D play-maker.
The return of Ford, plus maybe C. Vaughn (?) could give the Argos 2 real solid starters in the D-backfield, and IMO they need to find a group in TC and stick with them and let them gel together - other guys from the roster like Darby, Woodson & Washington, plus bring in new competition for TC. Wonder if Chamblin likes Gabriel at safety or might move him to OLB where he got some time in the 2017 GC season?
I'm glad Ford re-signed! He really didn't play last year but added a lot to the 2017 defence.

I agree regarding the secondary. Last year we watched some raw talent, which we patiently developed. Frustrating at times, but get Q and Cash back and I think with Chamblin's touch and a more aggressive Defensive philosophy, we may well see this area improve in leaps and bounds.
Hustle hit and never quit
I like the depth in the secondary as well. Robertson, Washington, Dowling, Likely, Covington, Ford plus a couple of vets in Sears and Vaughan. Then so far a couple of 1st year players in Ham and Thomas. Thomas was a good corner at Texas spent 2017 on a couple of NFL practice roster and last year with Dallas. But I see he is also on Mike Reilly's San Antonio team in the new league. Maybe Popp gave him the green light to get some playing time in this spring before the Argo Camp. Alden Darby is a FA and maybe checking out his NFL options. I thought he was a solid player last year.
Just Matt Webster and Matt Black for the safety ratio spot with Robert Woodson and Jermaine Gabriel FA'a. I would like to see Woodson resigned and maybe take over the #1 spot at safety. Gabriel has been a good hard hitting player which maybe is one of the reasons for his concussion issues. Are his best days behind him especially if he wants top dollar and is injury prone? Matt Black is a good veteran back up who can play all positions.
Now if the LBing and DLine spots were in as good a shape we would be looking at a good solid defense. More moves to be made there for sure.
I want Gabriel back but agree that his injuries have been a concern.
Love Matt Black but he’s 36 now, getting up there in age. For the record I was also a huge fan of Andre Durie and Chad Owens here but football is ruthless and everyone eventually loses a step.
Big Gabriel fan too, but yeah he has had some injury troubles in the last few years but great safety, I’d make the argument one of the top safeties in the league.
Anyhow, we shall see how it all plays out I guess.
I see one time Argo Khalil Bass practicing for the San Antonio franchse of the AAFL too for what it’s worth.
you're right -I confused him and coach Himbeach (sp)
