TORONTO ARGONAUTS FOOTBALL CLUB
GREY CUP CHAMPIONS: 1914, 1921, 1933, 1937, 1938, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1983, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2017, 2022
Very good news for the Argos organization. Look forward to 2019. Glad this was done in a prompt manner.
And so it begins. Best of luck to Cory Chamblin. Get a few key defensive players in here and we're in business.
Good hire, looking forward to next season.
Great news this will absolutely shore up the defence. He will help build a playoff contender.
Here's a one-one-one conversation I had with the coach before his news conference.

A good and safe choice now.
My first preference would have been Lapo but unfortunately he took his name out of the mix last week.
Who returns from last years staff?
I predict : Archer and Eiben return (Eiben was also in attendance at today's press conference).
I presume Brackenridge will return due to his connection with Chamblin from SSK
I know that Himbelbach is gone as per Frank Z. I do not believe Condell will return given he was interviewed for HC, and they interviewed Dinwiddie (reportedly) for the OC spot.
Head Coach Corey Chamblin Defensive Coordinator Mike Archer Offensive Coordinator/Receivers Tommy Condell Special Teams Coordinator Kevin Eiben Linebackers Coach Greg Quick Defensive Line Coach Kerry Locklin Defensive Backs Coach Tyron Brackenridge Defensive Quality Control Coach Gavin Lake Quarterbacks Coach Anthony Calvillo Offensive Line Coach Jonathan Himebauch Offensive Quality Control Coach & Asst. O-Line Coach Justin Poindexter Running Backs Coach Josh Moore

So aling with his role as head coach Chamblin will also be the defensive coordinator which shouldn't come as a big surprise. #Argos #CFL

If Condell doesn't return, expect Ryan Dinwiddie to be named the Argos OC (his contract runs out shortly).
I'm happy with Chamblin. I was terrified we were going to wind up with Bart Andrus again.
Great to hear that Chamblin will double as DC. That was the only viable option, IMO. If we'd hired an offensive guy like Lapo or Condell, I think we'd have had to promote Eiben to DC and I doubt he's ready for that.

Goodbye and good luck - all of the Offensive Coaches from last year; sadly Calvillo included it seems. He has confirmed as the DC. Archer gets the demotion back to LB's coach.
“I don’t think there’s any offensive coaches on the staff right now so it’s a blank slate. When I look across the league, there’s several guys who can come in and fill that role,” Chamblin said.
A question I would have liked to ask Jim Popp is how soon could he start negotiating with the first round pick for 2019. I'm sure he wouldn't say who they are going to pick even though Matt Betts is the only choice IMO. But we're not talking Mason Woods here, but a player who could be a star in the League for many years. Start wining and dining. Leaf games, Raptor games. A good signing bonus and salary. Give it your best shot Jim.
He wasn't my first choice because I fear him seeking employment elsewhere, but I'm happy it's done now. Can't wait for training camp.
It's us vs the rest of the country
Based on comments on social media, the players seem to be happy with the hiring.
I can hardly wait to see who the OC will be.
That will be crucial and will determine the offensive philosophy not to mention the excitement level, as I pray the dunk and dink is history.
This quote from CC seems to confirm that one reason (possibly a major or even the major reason) Trestman was fired was his unwillingness to help the team market itself (for instance by freeing up players on occasion to attend community or other non-football events):
“Everything starts with winning but everything has to mesh, the business side of this game directly affects football and the football directly affects the business side. It can’t just be ‘we’re football,’ it’s an organization and we have to win all day every day. I’ll definitely do what’s needed to put the product on the field, secondly to make sure the players understand that we need to be in the community. We have to be able to draw a crowd.”
