    Good riddance.
Never liked him as a person, did the same thing when he left the Esks for the Riders.
Now after signing an extension, a true mercenary.
The irony is he left for less money.

Wouldn't that make him NOT a mercenary?

C'mon - be proud of / happy for Ego Jones - he's going to The Show; gets to leave the minor league little CFL to go to the big league in his own country. There's a whole slew of CFL types who would gladly do the same thing, and those types will continue to get handed key CFL jobs.

I believe he was also under contract in Calgary when Milanovich added him to Toronto’s 2012 staff.

I don't get all the hate toward Jones. The Riders IMO are to blame for giving him an out in his contract. A foot in the door in the NFL can turn into a very lucrative career for him. Why hate on him for that? I don't recall many Argos fans hating on him when he left Calgary to come here in 2012.

What "hate" - is somebody here asking for him to be whipped or his house burned down?

How bout some dislike - for an arrogant, over-rated ego-head.

    Bang on OV.
Just imagine he signs an extension the week before and the Riders announce it.
Then he does not tell them and has an interview right after with the Browns.

Again, can't happen if the Riders don't give him an out until after the season.

The Roughriders had to know what they were doing when they signed him to a deal allowing him to escape. If they didn't, they are who should be getting ridiculed, not the guy who jumped to a place where the career opportunities are umpteen times greater than in a nine-team league with shrinking coaching staffs and only a fraction of the revenue (and therefore salary potential) of the NFL. But what a mercenary!

Chris Jones had an NFL out claus . He exercised it. Love him or hate him, he did a lot of good for the CFL over the years. Hate to see a good coach leave.

Apparently he took a pay cut (and a demotion) to go to the NFL.

Of course he had an out.
But he should have had the courtesy and told the team something was in the works like the rumours a month before or so.
Instead he says butkus, the team announces the extension and now have major egg on their face.
Not to mention being mid to late in the off season for re hires?

If you consider a senior assistant role in the world's biggest sporting enterprise a demotion from top dog in one of the world's smallest sporting enterprises a demotion, then yes he accepted a demotion. He was the boss, now he's not. And as noted above, he now works where there are 32 organizations and probably about 1,200 football ops jobs, instead of where there are nine organizations and probably about 200 ops jobs. Sometimes you play the long game when it comes to comp. (If he did in fact take a pay cut, which as far as I know no one has confirmed.)

How can it have been in the works a month or so ago, when Cleveland just hired the man that hired him last week? His interview was yesterday, and he was hired same day as his interview, which is why it caught everyone off guard.

I said about a month before, maybe less, the report that come out on TSN how NFL teams were inquiring about Jones.
So when he signed the extension a few days before one would think he was going to stay?

No demotion, love the CFL but career wise this could be a huge advancement for Chris Jones long term.
No shame on Jones for this.
