    AAF Rosters Set

With the AAF set to start in less than 2 weeks, final rosters were set today. 4 former CFL qb's made the grade in Keith Price, Blake Sims, Alex Ross and Marquis Williams. Other noticables are former Argo LBs Kahlil Bass and Jeff Luc who played MLB last pre season, R Austin Duke and CB Duke Thomas both of whom bolted the Argos to sign in the AAF.

It will be interesting to see how many recent cuts will come north to continue their pro football career.

Brandon Washington, former G for the Argos is not listed on Orlando's roster nor did I see K Sergio Castillos name anywhere.

For sure. Mark my words, more of these players will make it to the CFL than the NFL.

Viewing the San Diego/ San Antonio game on Facebook....the Fleet have protection issues. Tied at 6 at the half in front of a good crowd in the Alamo Dome.

I find the CFL fan (some anyways) worry/fear that this new league is going to rob the CFL of so much football talent to be laughable but predictable (and cue the call from some usual suspects to lower the Canadian content/ratio in the CFL as a big pressing need).

There is tons of football talent out there IMO - from the huge US talent pool and the under-rated & under-valued Canadian source - to stock the NFL, the CFL and a couple of other minor US pro leagues (not that those ever last - this one might though?, but there's been all sorts of these US start-up leagues, NFL-Europe and Arena ball variations around for decades); good scouts and GMs can find the proper talent and smart coaches should know how to evaluate it and stock a roster - no excuses there work, IMO.

I agree with you OV. Wait until paid attendance doesn't meet expectations. First they will change the salary structure just like Arena ball did. Then the next step will be to suspend operations for a year and never be heard from again. just like the XFL V1.

For a guy who has not watched the NFL for years, I'll admit while flipping channels took in the opening night game.
The production value of course was good as being on the CBS network.
But, with no disrespect to the four legged variety, the game was a dog with flees.
For me the same boring 4 downs, but there were no kickoffs and a reduced 35 seconds clock.
The stadium was about half full.
I do not see this coming back next year or even lasting the year.

I agree with both OV and AV.

Looking at the small crowds this weekend, this league simply does not have the fan interest to sustain the salaries that they are paying.

Tomorrow night it will be interesting to watch former Argo LBs Kahlil Bass and Jeff Luc in action against the San Diego Fleet.

Jeff Luc and Kahlil Bass combined for 9 tackles in Atlanta's loss to the Fleet in rain soaked San Diego last night. Is qb Matt Simms Phil's son? There sure is a resemblance.

I thought this league had some potential but some early observations have me worried about its future. We were told the talent would be CFL like, but almost all our free agents re-signed in Canada equaling zero talent loss. When I recall earlier player threats, I have to laugh. THEY don't even see this league lasting. Certainly not when all the players will be making 100g's. I watch the games and see desperate backwards passes for example, it screams amateur. A pro league to have two teams wear almost the same colours is ridiculous. With interest dwindling, I wouldn't be surprised to see the XFL not even startup after seeing how this NFL embraced league faired.

And so it begins. Salt Lake's team almost folded already, and the league in now basically owned by the owner of the Carolina Hurricanes.

The league apparently missed payroll until the infusion came, but they blew that off as a clerical error. Basically having a single owner to the league will only work if said owner doesn't care about financial losses. Based on the first 2 weeks, they will never get a TV deal which gives them guaranteed money. Americans have spoken regarding spring football leagues. They don't care.

They are already talking about possible relocation of a team to Raleigh NC. TWO WEEKS in and talking relocation? WOW!!

I wonder if Dylan Wynn will hi-tail it back to the CFL now.

Well with the salaries they are dishing no wonder they are in dire straights. Vince McMahon, if he is wise, would pull the plug on XFL Reboot NOW! It will end the same way. These players could come north to an established pro league and get noticed.

The CFL survives another Spring Football League threat....

I just don’t get it. How can a bunch of arm chairs like us see a financial disaster and not the parties involved? Missed payroll? It’s only going to snowball. This league is done. There is no other outcome. Again, I can see the XFL and it’s investors getting cold feet after watching this. It’s too bad because I think there’s room for a developmental league for the NFL and CFL.

Wynn remarked on Twitter that he’s got an announcement. It better be the CFL or his agent is a fool.

Wynn and Sinkfield signed with AAF teams.

As for the AAF struggles, is anyone really surprised ?

A lot of players think they can play in both the AAF and the NFL in the same season. I really don't think that will be the case for ANY players. A 10 game AAF season, perhaps up to 12 after playoffs coupled with a 16 game NFL season, is something I don't see ever becoming a reality in the same calendar year. IMO, and AAF players that show anything would be looked at by the NFL for the 2020 season. There is no way the NFL with concussion lawsuits already under their belts, are going to take a chance by having a player play that many games in a season.

On the official AAF site, they are making it sound like this development is good news.
