Most nervous you have been during an Argo game

I brought this topic up on Twitter and wanted to ask it here: what is the most nervous you have gotten during an Argo game.

    Several come to mind:

    i. Grey Cup 2017: Between Lirim Hajrullahu's field goal and Matt Black's interception. Strangely, I don't remember feeling too anxious during Calgary's drive that occurred after Vaughn's fumble return and the GWG drive. The anxiety was certainly heightened when Mitchell completed that 2nd down pass to put Calgary deep into Toronto territory. At that point I was very certain we were heading into overtime (or worse), however Bo threw it into the endzone and the rest is history!

ii. Eastern Final 2017: I specified (on Twitter) the moments prior to the 3rd down completion to JWJ as the focal point, but really it was that entire drive. I admit not feeling that confident that Ray was going to be able to drive them down the field because Saskatchewan's defence had played extremely well in the 2nd half. True relief did not come until the Roughriders fumbled on that lateral play and Owusu-Ansah recovered it.

iii. 100th Grey Cup: throughout the 3rd and parts of the 4th quarter. The Argos were up 24-6 at halftime, but if memory serves Calgary played good defence in the 3rd Q and the Argos only managed a field goal. Calgary got a couple of field goals and, yes, the lead was still 10+ you couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. Fortunately, Calgary took a no-yards penalty and a rough play penalty that gave the Argos 30-yards and Chad Kackert, Ricky Ray and Andre Durie put the Stampeders out of their misery.

Me too - which is why I wasn't nervous at all! It was more like a feeling of doom, making the surprise ending all the sweeter.

I get nervous any time the Argos go up by two or three touchdowns. "Fortunately" that hardly ever happens...

    In no particular order:
    1) 1983 Eastern Final: A back and forth affair against Hamilton, late touchdown to win....amazing!
    2) 1983 Grey Cup: Once again a nail biter against BC, Holloway under the weather for this game, Barnes with the heroics....even more amazing after 31 years between championships!
    3) 1991 Grey Cup: Dunigan heroics with a bad shoulder, once again a close one.
    4) 2012 Eastern Final: Last minute was agony to watch, a dropped pass by a Montreal receiver in the Argo end zone sealed the deal.....beautiful!
    5) 2017 Eastern Final: We all know that story.
    6) 2017 Grey Cup: Matt Black immortalized himself in Argonaut history.

1997 East Final. The best Argo team ever should have blown out Montreal, but if Terry Baker didn't miss three FGs they would have lost that game. Somehow they were able to keep it close enough for the last drive, and when Flutie hit Pinball it was perhaps the most joy I've had at an Argo game because they should never been in a position for the win to happen. I honestly thought they had lost it.

Most tense: Many contenders, but I'd say the third-and-short late in the 1983 Eastern Final, when Holloway pleaded with Obie to go for it rather than try a field goal, and Obie ultimately capitulated. The Argos' hopes and indeed their legacy rested on getting that first down and scoring to win the game. So, so tense.

Longest three minutes of my life: The last three minutes of the 1983 Grey Cup. Seemed to take an hour to finish the game after we took our first and only lead.

2017 Grey Cup. As Calgary marched down the field to what appeared to be the insurance TD, the dream of a great comeback within the season ending in a championship seemed virtually dead until Cassius Vaughn recovered Kamar Jordan's fumble and ran the length of the field to reverse the ghost of the 1971 Leon McQuay Grey Cup fumble.

My fav game. Almost in tears as Pinball ran it in. The whole game made Argos fans nervous.

That is one of my favourite Argo games of all time. But yeah, if Baker had hit even one of those...

2017 Eastern Final. I almost couldn't watch the last game winning drive.

I believe it was a meaningless game, but the Alouettes actually defeated the Argos in the final regular season game. That game was in Montreal, but perhaps it provided Montreal with some confidence heading into the East Final.

Halftime of the 2013 Eastern Final. As soon as I saw Rob Ford come and sit behind the Ti-Cats bench, I had a really bad feeling.

2012 Eastern Final by a large margin. Away game, some 50,000 people, just crazy nervous

2017 Eastern Final, but really only near the end after the punt return.

Didn't really get nervous in both those Grey Cup games.
In 2012 I was seriously fighting a cold during the game, popping pills and drinking water
In 2017 I think the Argos were so much of an underdog that I was just there for the spectacle of the Grey Cup and enjoying sitting in my own seats. I do remember looking at Will a few times and seeing how nervous he was

I would say that the five that come to mind immediately would be:

1983 East Final - I thought that the Argos would blow Hamilton out and it became apparent quickly that wasn't going to happen.
1983 Grey Cup - I felt very confident that the Argos would win, even when they were trailing 17-7 at the half, as they had been a strong second half team all year; as Paul mentioned though, once the Argos finally got the lead and then missed the two point convert, those final three minutes were excruciatingly long.
1997 East Final - The Argos seemed destined to lose this one for much of the second half. Pinball's last minute TD to win the game was one of the most exhilarating plays ever.
2017 East Final - The drive at the end was a thing of beauty after the Argos looked like they were destined to lose this one for most of the fourth quarter.
2017 Grey Cup - That final Calgary possession was tough to watch.

I would also add the 1982 East Final. Even though the Argos won 44-7, I didn't feel comfortable with that game until Jo Jo Heath's interception put the Argos up 37-7 in the fourth quarter. I know that sounds crazy but the Argos had been so bad for so long prior to that and had found every way imaginable to lose games over the years, I wasn't at all comfortable until very late in that game.
