UBC DB/punter Stavros Katsantonis is an unusual choice as the Canadian for the American College Gridiron Classic on January 3-5. He was suspended for four years in May after testing positive for the performance enhancing drug SARM LDG-4033. As a result of this, he was made ineligible to play USports football until 2023, although his CFL draft year was only moved back one year until 2020, because the CFL penalty for a positive drug test is one year. As a result of his drug suspension, Katsantonis did not play Usports football in 2019. While he was a 2018 Canadian All-Star for the third straight year, one wonders why any American All-Star event pick him as the Canadian representative when he did not play in 2019 and has had a positive drug test, even if all CFL teams and 31 of 32 NFL teams are going to attend the Classic.
