I stumbled across this article from 1955 about Harry Sonshine "The Fan Who Took Over the Argos" and all the complaints that reigned down on him. Some of the problems have an eerie similarity to today's team, although it is obvious that the city and the media deeply cared then about what was happening to the team, which is different from today. Another obvious difference was the NFL paid close attention to the CFL.

Sonshine obviously created a lot of chaos but I was surprised at how many established NFL players he had agreements to come to play for the Argos.
