Veteran cuts done for 2019? I’ve only seen Winnipeg’s Chris Williams receive this treatment in 2019.

I doubt it's finished. The rule set out in the 2014 CBA (which presumably is the same in the current CBA) says six-year vets are guaranteed pay after their team's ninth game, five-year vets after the 10th game, four-year vets after the 11th game, and one-year vets after the 14th game.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering why there hasn’t been more moves. The Argos seem have to game 15 to decide on Wilder.

I thought for sure he was done as an Argo. Big time chance for redemption. It’s too bad we are essentially out of the playoffs. With the Cats weaker and Argos playing well, it should be a close one and this game could have meant so much.

I honestly don’t know, he has played quite well since replacing Wilder so you would think they would want him in the lineup if available.

Maybe there is a team interested in Wilder, but want to see him play again before making a deal.

I still thing Wilder can be a difference maker if used to his strengths. It would be interesting to see how a team like Calgary and Bo Mitchell would use him.

I'm guessing "No". I think the Argos are simply "showcasing" James Wilder for other teams by playing him. That's the only explanation that makes sense since Brendan Burks has been playing better than Wilder this year.

    Radically Canadian!

Great job they did show casing him. Pathetic use of him. It just looks like they don’t consider players strengths when coming up with plays. Brutal job utilizing him.

You have to have run-blocking o-linemen to run the ball. Evidence suggests we do not have those.

Someone should tell Chapdelaine this, continuously running Wilder between the tackles with no results.

It appears to me that the line doesn't block at all for Wilder. Every time he got the ball, he was surrounded by Hamilton players. Maybe his teammates don't like him?

Did I hear right on the broadcast that Burks was put on the 6 game with a groin injury? I may have been numb at that point.

My guess is Wilder didn’t intimidate Hamilton by standing with his helmet held high during the player intros?
Hamilton was ready for any run play involving Wilder, unfortunately Chapdelaine obliged by calling the same predictable run plays between the tackles.

Burks is on the six, for whatever reason. Doesn't mean he won't come off it before six games, tho. All of our injured players are now on the six. I assume this is to open the possibility of SMS savings for some of them.

Wilder still thinks the Argos have a chance of making the playoffs. He also comments on his refusing to play on STs below.

The Toronto Argonauts’ running back is coming off his best performance of the season against the Ottawa REDBLACKS in Week 13, but he’d had some troubles prior to that outing, including an injury and multiple games served as a healthy scratch. ...
He suffered a rib injury in the Argos’ Week 6 game against the Calgary Stampeders. After spending a few weeks out of the lineup, it looked as though the 27-year-old was ready to make a return to full-time duty. However, that didn’t quite come to fruition. The team offered Wilder a spot on special teams to work him back into the fold. Wilder admittedly declined that, believing that it wasn’t what was best for him or the team. ...

“I was displeased, obviously, but I gave it a few days,” Wilder said. “I tried it out, but then I was just like ‘hey coach, I don’t think this would be the smartest thing coming off a rib injury and playing a special teams role. I don’t think that would be helping the team. I think you should put a guy there that really wants to be there who’s 100 percent healthy and would be fit for the job,’ and coach ended up pulling the plug and healthy scratching me and the two games after that. That was really frustrating on my part.”

After having a relatively quiet outing against the Tiger-Cats during the Labour Day Classic in Week 12, Wilder feasted on Ottawa. He rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on eight carries while adding another 45 yards and two scores on three catches in the receiving game to help Toronto to a 46-17 victory — it was the second win of the year for the Boatmen and their first on the road. ...

Despite the odds being against them, Wilder and the rest of the Argos are going to continue to fight until the last second. “Every guy in our locker room believes we have a shot so that’s what matters most. We all truly believe and everybody’s really buying in. Nobody is doubting each other; nobody is pointing fingers. Our record, I don’t believe it represents the team we truly are. We had many close games, many games shooting ourselves in the foot and a lot of games where we were up and just couldn’t finish. We’re finally coming together. It’s coming together a little later than we expected — later than we wanted to — but the main thing is that it is coming together. If we have even a one percent chance of getting in, that’s enough for the guys in this locker room.”
