I agree. If they were going to fire him, they would have by now. As far as pursuing a new coach, they would just wait until the end of the season and see who was available, and in the meantime claim to be doing 'due diligence' and following a 'process'. For better or worse, the fact the players didn't quit on Chamblin has bought him a second chance, I believe.
Chamblin won't be back. Not a chance.
I don't think you can sell many season's tickets without a QB and with a coach under whom the team failed so miserably. We likely aren't gonna get the QB position resolved until February, so IMO a new head coach, preferably one fans can get excited about, is a must.

I can see Pinball seeing it as Popp did not give CC the tools he needed to be successful. CC is under contract and Pinball has already said it may take a few seasons to get to where he wants them to be. I don't think Pinball will go for the optics of just firing a coach who did not fail him.
Fans can be too fast to run coaches out of town around here. The cycle of the "new" coach winning the Cup has been broken. So time to try "keeping" the coach.
I'm generally not in favour of firing coaches after one unsuccessful season, but Chamblin has a lot to answer for imo. He presumably hired the assistant coaches, and he definitely overrated some of the free agents we signed (Poop, Wild). He designed the defensive schemes and persisted with heavy man coverage when it was evident to all that it was not working with our personnel. Our talent recruitment was poor, but he was not left with only crumbs to work with. And can he be sold to ticket buyers?

We’ve all seemed to calm down since the season has been over, but let’s not forget what we saw. When you look back at all the games and see bonehead after bonehead call from a lost and overwhelmed head coach, I don’t know how you can believe he will be back. Seriously, some of the stupidest live game decisions ever. The head coach they want is still playing, so in time this will be sorted out.
I see very little chance MOS leaves Wpg.

We better move quickly after the GC, in either determining if MOS or Lapo want to come aboard.
Naylor said yesterday how BC might have interest in either Lapo or Campbell.
Lapo is the favourite as having some history with Mike Reilly.
He may very well re-sign, but I wouldn’t say little chance he leaves. Win the Cup and it’s mission accomplished, time to move home to Ontario. Lose the game badly, and the same criticism he faced before the playoffs might appear again. This is the guy who screwed (I say rejected) the Tiger-Cats twice for Toronto, so loyalty to Winnipeg isn’t a thing. Being close to his son now playing football, would pull hard. I don’t see $ being a problem with MLSE and his buddy Pinball will make a convincing offer. The fact he doesn’t have a contract means he’s at least going to listen to the offer.
Not sure if this plays any role but......
