I can see Pinball seeing it as Popp did not give CC the tools he needed to be successful. CC is under contract and Pinball has already said it may take a few seasons to get to where he wants them to be. I don't think Pinball will go for the optics of just firing a coach who did not fail him.
Fans can be too fast to run coaches out of town around here. The cycle of the "new" coach winning the Cup has been broken. So time to try "keeping" the coach.
I agree. If they were going to fire him, they would have by now. As far as pursuing a new coach, they would just wait until the end of the season and see who was available, and in the meantime claim to be doing 'due diligence' and following a 'process'. For better or worse, the fact the players didn't quit on Chamblin has bought him a second chance, I believe.
